I assume you are asking what mode to set your transceiver to for sstv. If so
you set it to usb on 20 meters. One normal way is to set it so you are copying
the stations in voice and you will be in the correct mode when the sstv starts.
One frequency to look for is 14.230 or 14.233.

Re: [digitalradio] SSTV AMPLIFIER

2010-05-25 Thread Ralph Mowery

Is this for a FM or SSB transmitter ?  If FM then any amp should do.  If you
are using a SSB transmitter and feeding it the audio for SSTV then you need an
amp  that is linear.  I would guess that most of your sstv transmissions are
not too long (say less than 30 seconds) so the duty cycle should be low.

Any suggestions for a amp vhf  for SSTV

Any help appreciated...

I started a search at the FCC web site went to several sections and
gave up to me it was like hunting for a needle in a hay stack. So I
qsy to the ARRL web site.At least it was easy to find Rules and
Regulations Part 97 .RULES AND REGULATIONS PART 97"Section 97.305
Authorized emission types. All this was found here
http://www.arrl.

org/FandES/field/regulations/news/part97/and after
reading all this:
Section 97.301 Authorized frequency bands.

Section 97.303 Frequency sharing requirements.

Section 97.305 Authorized emission types.

Section 97.307 Emission standards.

Section 97.309 RTTY and data emission codes.

Section 97.311 SS emission types.
I'm more confused than ever. There ought to be a place to ask a
straight Question and Get a straight answer.I'm not a lawyer,so Ill
wait and see what happens to SSTV MP73 mode on 30 Meters. But I will
be QRV and watching 10.134

Re: [digitalradio] SSTV & MP73 Mode

2008-01-22 Thread Sholto Fisher
I was wondering if a recognized 30m Narrow Band SSTV calling frequency would
be a good thing to discuss? Because it is narrow band and the usable area on
30m is limited it makes sense to me to try to encourage a calling frequency,
similar to 14.230 on 20m.

To try and hunt through the 30m spectrum for an SSTV transmission with
unknown offset is going to kill interest before it starts for most folks.

There's a little difficulty with coordinating a worldwide frequency however
due to the fact that some regions only allow narrow band above 10.140 - but
I think an international calling frequency is worth pursuing rather than
just a USA/Region 2 one.

The tones of the transmission are +1900Hz for the sync pulse and the scan
lines are 2044Hz - 2300Hz.

So if we chose say 10.142.000 (USB dial frequency) that would put the sync
pulse on 10.143.900 and the picture on 10.144.044 - 10.144.300

At this QTH 10.142 is far enough down from the main Packet stations I hear
and high enough away from the PSK31 watering hole at 10.140. I don't know
how many toes would be stepped on if 10.142 USB (i.e., 10.143.9 - 10.144.3)
was chosen for the calling frequency but I am sure I will find out by
posting this message in this group!

HEHyepsure did and I am amazed that I never even gave
the ability to do that a second thought in the past.

Unless I've misunderstood the feedback recently, I simply
right-clicked on one of mode keys. When that's done, a slew
of different mode-types suddenly appears in a list and it's a
bit lng per se.

Scan the list and you'll see MP73 and AS FAR AS I KNOW,
click on that item and the mode you right-clicked on will
be changed to MP73.

I picked the Commodore button and changed it to MP73
mode. It appears to work - I saw the change when I tested
it on 10.132 in the wee hours this morning.

I just need some feedback on what the testing status is for
the mode and how we might coordinate it so we're not all
squinting into the horizon looking for a trail of smoke
somewhere.
