*Position: RPG/Java Developer* *Location: Pleasant Prairie, WI* *Duration: 12 month contract * Currently looking for an RPG consultant that has Java experience as well. This mean solid RPG past with 3+ years of Java development. In the same environment is preferred and both must be recent experience in the last 2 years. Need to know how to code in Java not just read it. - Make modifications and provide support to existing custom ERP. - Create and modify modular programs using RPG IV on multiple AS/400's - Utilize customized RPG applications while maintaining and re-engineering the AS/400 system - Work with users to troubleshoot various issues - Extensive knowledge of RPG IV and SQL using DB2/400 tables and CLP - Knowledge of all AS/400 programming and operations functions - Experience building complex RPG systems - Knowledge of Structured Systems Analysis and Design - Knowledge of Database design and data modeling techniques - Knowledge of Java and Web programming preferable. - Knowledge of connectivity to PC and Internet functions - Bachelor’s degree preferable and 5+ years experience required The Senior Programmer helps deliver quality systems to support the client’s remarkable growth. You will be developing new legacy applications, enhancing legacy existing applications and supporting the ERP system. The Senior Programmer will be involved in the design and implementation of AS400 systems using modern programming techniques and database design. *JOB DESCRIPTION* - As the Senior Programmer you will develop, maintain and support legacy applications in RPG according to user specifications. - Develop test scenarios for each RPG application change in coordination with end users. - Modernize current legacy applications to coincide with applications interfacing with .Net/Java applications. - The Senior Programmer mentors other AS/400 programmers. - Monitor and assign baseline tickets to AS/400 programmers. - Provide emergency and standard support to all AS/400 users. - Gain a working knowledge of users' tasks and interactions with AS/400 programs to be able to enhance/update the applications accordingly. - Promote new programming techniques to the production environments. - Assist in documenting technical specifications for program and application changes. *NECESSARY SKILLS* - 5+ years of recent RPG Programmer experience, ideally as a Senior Programmer. - Understanding of binding directories, stored procedures, trigger programs, service programs, DDL, SQL and free format RPG. DDL = Data Definition Language. A standard for commands that define the different structures in a database.
