I haven't changed anything in the calendar today, so I can only assume that google's severs are doing something weird. I don't know; I've never tried the email notification option. I don't recall ever deleting events, just adding new ones and occasionally editing existing ones. I have opted to receive email notifications of event changes. Periodically, I get several cancelation notifications followed by corresponding new event notifications, with no apparent difference.
