[tdf-discuss] Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

2010-12-23 Thread Florian Effenberger

Hello,

I would like to wish all of you a merry Christmas in peace and silence,
some joyful days with your beloved ones, and a happy, successful and
healthy new year!

This year was an amazing one for all of us. Together and united, we have
achieved so much in just a short period of time. I am thankful for what
we do day by day, and I am proud of being part of such a wonderful
community. What we have achieved already is the sign of a healthy, vital
and living community, of a community that works together and united and
speaks with one voice, a community that values the true roots of free
software. Enjoying this every day pays for all the long nights and
exhausting work.

Thank you for being with us, thanks so much for all these great
contributions -- and I am very much looking forward to the exciting
things that will happen in 2011.

Merry Christmas everyone!
Florian

[tdf-discuss] .deb for other languages missing in download site

2010-12-23 Thread Rogerio Luz Coelho
Hello,

This is my first message to the list so please bear with me.

If this has already been looked at I am trully sorry.

I am trying to download the pt-br language pack for the RC2, and when I go
to the link

http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/testing/3.3.0-rc2/deb/x86_64/

there only goes to language pack for the LO locale. Seems something got lost
in the transition.

Will test the RC2 for EN only for a while.

Rogerio

Re: [steering-discuss] Last night's announcement

2010-12-23 Thread Bernhard Dippold

Hi Flo, *

I'm not a SC member, but just want to add my thoughts:

Florian Effenberger schrieb:

Hi,

I'm sorry to say, but last night's announcement hasn't been delivered to
all announce@ subscribers, and is also missing from our official archives.

The problem was that the timeout on the mailserver per default was set
too low, and thus, with our large subscribers list, after a certain
amount of time it just killed the sendout.

I hopefully fixed the problem, but I can't tell the missing recipients,

Do you know if the mails have been sent according their subscription
time or their name / email address?

(I got the mail for example)

If you can find out, there would be quite a good chance to do c.) on
just a part of the list - without annoying many people with a double mail.

so we have three choices:

a.) Do nothing, as this was "just" an RC.
b.) Re-send the announcement.
c.) Re-send the announcement with the information that some recipients
were missing.

d) point to the announcement on the website (if it is uploaded there) by
a mail to all the lists except of announce (containing info about the
partial delivery). Inform the native lang groups to tell it to their
contributors.

This would probably reach most of the people interested in RC2 (together
with blogging etc)

Best regards

Bernhard

[tdf-discuss] Re: .deb for other languages missing in download site

2010-12-23 Thread plino

You are right :)

The same happens to the x64 rpm packs which only got to LT.

And this applies to all the mirrors I checked.

Fortunately this only happens for the x64 builds :) (I'm joking!)

[tdf-discuss] Question regarding font spacing . . .

2010-12-23 Thread Steven Shelton

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

This is probably not the right list for this, but . . .

I've noticed that since I started using LibO (RC1), that the fonts do
not space the same in Writer as they do in OOo. I'm not using the
default fonts; these are form letters that have been on my hard drive
for years. When I open them in OOo, they look fine. When I open them
in LibO, they seem to have a bit more space between the characters.
For instance, words are forced to wrap in LibO when they are near the
right-hand margin of the page when those same words do not wrap in
OOo. (I've tested using OOo 3.1, 3.2, and the latest 3.3 RCs.)

Anyone else observed this, or able to explain why?

Have a look at:

You'll need to click on the "(Continue reading) to get the full details,
but if you look at the last:

you'll see that executable names between OOo and LibO is a serious problem.

And BTW: +1 on 77257 and a proper 'File Exension Manager'.
