[tdf-discuss] latest Hackfest information

2011-08-31 Thread Florian Effenberger

Hello,

only two more days, and we'll all meet again in Munich! Looking forward
to that! :-)

Following up on my previous e-mail
(http://www.mail-archive.com/libreoffice@lists.freedesktop.org/msg15144.html),
I just wanted to add some more information. If you haven't read the
first message from August 26th, please do so now, as it contains some
important information.

Good news: The kind folks from DBI team will sponsor a round of food and
beverages for all participants, up to 250 €, and they will also attend
the Hackfest with some of their developers. Thanks a lot for this
generous support, that is really appreciated! I propose we use their
donation for Sunday's lunch.

With regards to sleeping at Café Netzwerk and couchsurfing: Initially,
we only had two or three people booked for Café Netzwerk, so I planned
to get them to couchsurf instead. However, right now there are seven
people sleeping at Café Netzwerk, so it will be quite a lot of fun, I
guess. :-) We have two offers for couchsurfing, up to three or four
places, and I propose we determine that Friday evening ad hoc, whether
people prefer the Café or couchsurfing.

I don't know yet whether I will drive home each day (I live in the
Allgaeu, about 100 km from Munich), or if I will stay at Café Netzwerk.
If I won't stay, I will give my Café Netzwerk key to one trustworthy
Hackfest participant. :)

I plan to arrive Friday rather late, since I have a lot of work to do
before, and I propose we directly meet at the Hackfest venue in the
LiMux project office at Sonnenstraße. In the evening, we can go out to
the city, enjoy good Munich food and beer. Probably we should start at
about eight, to give participants enough time to arrive? The LiMux folks
told us that they are at the office from 1400 on, so those coming
earlier can of course already go there.

Those who come later can just call someone (my number is in the
signature of this e-mail) and we'll tell you where we are.

The LiMux team has reserved two parking lots over the weekend near
Sonnenstraße that can be used for people who have to transport goods to
the venue. In case you need one of these parking lots, please contact
the organizers in advance, as special keys are required.

I guess that's it. :-) Looking forward to meeting everyone! If you have
any questions, just give me a ping.

Happy hacking,
Florian

[tdf-discuss] Lotus Wordpro files

Is anyone able to open Lotus Wordpro files in any Version 3.4?
3.4.2 would generated a i/o error and 3.4.3 give me a blank file.

Sent this early.

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/plain/lotuswordpro/qa/cppunit/data/pass/A14.lwp
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/plain/lotuswordpro/qa/cppunit/data/pass/IntPres11-2004.lwp

are the two docs, downloaded locally they work for me in 3.4. Do you
have some docs, which you can share, which used to open in some LibO, or
go-oo or something, which no longer do ?

[tdf-discuss] Howto start building from tarball for Solaris x86

2011-08-31 Thread Karl Behler

Hi all,

I've downloaded the tarball from
http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/src/3.3.4/ and
untared everything. So I've got my directory filled with something like

@LongLink, libreoffice-artwork-3.3.4.1/, libreoffice-base-3.3.4.1/,
libreoffice-bootstrap-3.3.4.1/, libreoffice-calc-3.3.4.1/,
libreoffice-components-3.3.4.1/, libreoffice-extensions-3.3.4.1/,
libreoffice-extras-3.3.4.1/, libreoffice-filters-3.3.4.1/,
libreoffice-help-3.3.4.1/, libreoffice-impress-3.3.4.1/,
libreoffice-l10n-3.3.4.1/, libreoffice-libs-core-3.3.4.1/,
libreoffice-libs-extern-3.3.4.1/, libreoffice-libs-extern-sys-3.3.4.1/,
libreoffice-libs-gui-3.3.4.1/,
libreoffice-postprocess-3.3.4.1/, libreoffice-sdk-3.3.4.1/,
libreoffice-testing-3.3.4.1/, libreoffice-ure-3.3.4.1/,
libreoffice-writer-3.3.4.1/

Now I cd into libreoffice-bootstrap-3.3.4.1 and do the autogen.sh
I finally managed to get through this

When I say "make" it tries to fetch a lot from various web locations
which do not exist anymore. Why that? I thought I already downloaded the
source with the full tarball

How can I avoid fetching files from external?
How do I have to organize the source from the already downloaded tarball
so that it is recognized by the configure and make procedures?

My uname -a output is: SunOS sxaug21 5.10 Generic_144501-19 i86pc i386

My autogen options where:
./autogen.sh --with-num-cpus=4 --disable-cups --disable-gconf
--disable-gnome-vfs --prefix=/usr/gnu/64 --disable-gstreamer
--with-ant-home=/afs/ipp-garching.mpg.de/home/k/kcb/ftp/Ant/apache-ant-1.8.2
--without-junit --disable-fetch-external

Any advice?

Thanks,

Karl

Apparently not, until now.
I remember having seen some discussion about a way to solve the issue.
No idea where, sorry.
Maybe if you can find that, and add the link to the issue, it makes it
easier for interested developers to step in?

[tdf-discuss] Went Vanilla...

2011-08-31 Thread Robert Boehm
Hi Folksjust wanted to mention on this listand maybe see if
there is any feedback

(no problem if none)..

I run openSUSE (currently openSUSE 11.4 on my production machines) and
had added the
LibreOffice repository (STABLE) and have been working with that without
problems.

I am fairly conservative, but also kind of like the latest stuff too as
long as proven stable enough
for use. Mind you, I also test the beta versions of everything on a
test machine both in Windows

and in Linux so I see what's coming down the pike and to file bug reports.

Seems as if the openSUSE maintainer of the LibreOffice stable repository
wants to be more
conservative than methey are still pushing version 3.3.3 (after
3.3.4 has been out for a while)
and currently in UNSTABLE are still testing 3.4.2 (3.4.3 came out
today)I decided to push
ahead and go "vanilla" in my Linux machines.so I uninstalled the
repository versions of 3.3.3
and installed vanilla (from The Document Foundation) version 3.4.3
today. It is running wonderfully
and I am thinking of just going with vanilla versions from now on
(stable branch) instead of the
repository. Oh...yeah...there are a few integration issues with SUSE
like some polish in the look
in KDE, linking up the clipart library is automatic in the repository
version (but easy to do manually
after installation of the vanilla version) and maybe something that I'm
not thinking about.

But what I wanted to say is this: I am totally excited about this
project and glad that it is flourishing,
and am also happy to be using the latest stable version, as I can see
it's already quicker...imports
formats betterand even though all software has many bugs, this stuff
is wonderful and very usable

Thank-you for this wonderful project (as the OpenOffice project
continues to stagnate over at the Apache

Foundation for the time being).

I just fixed a friend's computer that wouldn't boot up (a hardware
issue, resolved) and replaced OpenOffice
with LibreOffice 3.4.3 (good timing...came out today!) and he is happy
as can be.

I just solicit one thing: Am I missing anything (other than I mentioned
above) by using the vanilla versions
in Linux rather than being patient and waiting for the openSUSE
repository versions? If the maintainer
of that repository subscribes to this list, I would be happy to listen
to what is said.

Thanks for the patience in this long e-mail...

Re: [tdf-discuss] Howto start building from tarball for Solaris x86

2011-08-31 Thread Karl Behler

Hi all again,

now I tried the same at home under Suse 11.4.

Downloaded libreoffice-bootstrap-3.3.4.1

And followed the build steps:

This is my autogen.sh:

./autogen.sh --with-num-cpus=2
--with-ant-home=/downloads/Ant/apache-ant-1.8.2
--with-junit=/downloads/Junit/junit-4.9.jar

It runs through without complaining:
> .

configure: creating ./config.status
config.status: creating set_soenv
config.status: creating Makefile
Setting up the environment for building LibreOffice
Setting platform independent values... Setting Linux x86-64 specific values...
done
Setting the environment variables... done
Setting the aliases... done

*
* LibreOffice 330 configuration.
*
*
* Configuration part of LibreOffice 330 build is finished.
*
* NB! Be aware that you might not be able to build LibreOffice if you
* ignore any warning message that were generated during this configuration
* process.
*

To build, do:
  $ make

Developer installation (after you have built):
  $ make dev-install

Configure completed

But when I try to do the make:

papa@lnx54srv1:~/projects/libreoffice/3341/libreoffice-bootstrap-3.3.4.1> make
found wget: wget
found md5sum: md5sum

Obviously the reason is the same the file ooo.list is outdated and the
mentioned packages are not anymore found at the original places.

Again - What to do? What to read?

maybe it is better to ask on the developers Mailing-List
libreoff...@lists.freedesktop.org
This here is more about common things around The Document Foundation,
