To everyone- Thank you for all the ideas, I'm going to start writing
our constitution and work on starting the group. And for IDSA and
IxDA being combined, we were considering this. However, if we split
the clubs up, we would have more funding, and thus be able to host
more speakers/events.
Janna, thank you for replying to my question so quickly- I would be
really interested in further discussing the role of an IxDA student
chapter on a campus. Per your three questions:
1. As far as I'm aware, there are no IxDA student groups nearby, I
could be mistaken though (there are no other design schools nearby).
2. For UC, the major organization is less important than the student
group. So as long as the student group has a structure, then we
should be ok.
3. This is something that should probably discussed more, as it
relates to what an IxDA student group would actually do. However,
organizations here tend to be very collaborative. For example, IDSA
and SAID may both sponsor a certain event to have a speaker come in
(as in they both contribute members and money to run the event). The
same would probably go for IxDA.
Finally, could you elaborate a bit on what a basecamp would be? I'm
still a little unclear as to what it actually is (it does sound
incredibly exciting though!).
Thank you so much for the support!
Jon
