Re: [IxDA Discuss] IxDA Atlanta - 01/13 - Featured Speaker Carl DiSalvo
Here's a reminder of IxDA Atlanta's January meeting, tomorrow night, Wednesday, 1/13 at 7 p.m. (with social and networking beginning at 6). This month we're hosting a talk by Georgia Tech's Carl DiSalvo! Details below and on the event page: http://ixdaatlanta.ning.com/events/beyond-wireframes-and BEYOND WIREFRAMES AND BEHAVIORS: Public and Participatory Interaction Design Socially responsible design has become a catch-phrase in the design community. But what is the role of interaction design in working towards socially responsible ends such as advocacy, technology literacy, and sustainability? When considering socially responsible design, is there a possibility for interaction design to be about something more than the useable and desirable, and can interaction designers do more than create wireframes and specify behaviors? In this presentation I'll draw from examples of recent work to challenge us to consider how interaction design can be thought about as a public and participatory practice, committed to social engagement and change.
