But I'm confident, there are good devs in La Paz, and we will not reinvent the wheel, just adapt OSGeo software to our needs. It would be great if there were some way of teleworking for this. Or may be some class of open process, to let the community help in some way. Yes we are thinking all the project as open, as you can see in https://proyectos.geo.gob.bo . We need to define better exactly which technologies we will use, and maybe later in this year, if more fundings are coming, we could think in some teleworking for a specific task (this modality exists in the Bolivian public administration, I checked it). Good luck with the project! Thanks, we will keep spaming when we have some interesting news. ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] Fwd: GFOSS Education Resources Survey
Tyler, you may recall that we had a list of university courses done around two years ago: http://skagit.meas.ncsu.edu/~helena/grasswork/osgeoedu_courses.html It should be somewhere on the osgeo web site as well. These are all full semester regular courses so expanding the list to add other types of training would be great. The list may also need some updates (I need to add two additional courses at NCSU as well, as our program is growing). It is busy here but I will try to get to the survey, Helena Helena Mitasova Associate Professor Department of Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences 2800 Faucette Drive, Rm. 1125 Jordan Hall North Carolina State University Raleigh, NC 27695-8208 hmit...@ncsu.edu On Feb 13, 2012, at 12:20 AM, Tyler Mitchell wrote: Have your training programs listed for others to find them... Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] Re: FOSS4G South America
Last year there was some buzz that the FOSS4G would be hosted here in Brazil, but no one (or just a few people) wanted to help organizing the event. It would be great to have an event here in Latin America, but for what I can see OSGeo in Brazil is mostly used as a advertising strategy (for some, at least), so we have little traction. Perhaps the folks that hosted other FOSS4G events could share a bit of the experience that was. All of the work involved, the steps, etc. That would help a lot of people and even make a few interested. I spent a couple of wonderful weeks in La Paz in 1995 doing an assessment of their GIS capability, and few even more wonderful days in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Still have a charango to prove it. I am sure their GIS capabilities have come a long ways since 1995.
