Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] regional conferences

Charter members are able to join the conference committee right? I would invite
those interested in helping with this decision to join the committee.

A vote that is not backed by effort does not reach very far.

 - OSGeo Charter members deserve more say in the organization, this vote
 will give them more control

 - I initially created the OSGeo Conference committee years ago, it is
made up of many past organizers from different areas of the globe, but
really only contains less than 15 people

 - the OSGeo Conference Committee would still be overlooking the process,
but the final vote will go to the OSGeo Charter members

Ah, how come I always had the impression it was for old conference organizers
only... Funny how such idea just sticks in ones head. But I guess you have a
point here. I'm considering joining if there's a need for new people?
Cheers,
Jeroen

[OSGeo-Discuss] Announcement tools at OSGEO?

2012-06-19 Thread Basques, Bob (CI-StPaul)
All,

GeoMoose 2.6 is on the verge of being released. I recall having the
announcement of (major) releases being added to the OSGEO news feed in the past
and that I had to ask someone about this. Are there any other similar
tools/processes from the OSGEO side?

Thanks

Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] Announcement tools at OSGEO?

2012-06-19 Thread Frank Warmerdam
Bob,

News announcements should be sent to news_i...@osgeo.org as described at:

  http://www.osgeo.org/content/news/submit_news.html

That goes to me, and I'll try and post it to the web site and announce list.
For software releases I normally only put through major releases as opposed
to point releases. Sometimes I lose track of the items, so feel free to prompt
me after about 24 hours if you haven't got a confirmation from me that it is
posted.

Best regards,
Frank

GeoMOOSE 2.6 provides exciting new features. Some new features to
 GeoMOOSE 2.6 include:

 - Integrated Dojo javascript library
 - Updated website and documentation

 settings.ini

Visit the live demo from the website,

GeoMOOSE (www.geomoose.org) is an open source web application
framework for displaying geographic data. What makes GeoMOOSE unique
is it provides an out-of-the-box solution that makes it easy for
non-developers to create web-mapping applications with typical tools
such as navigate, search, measure and print. Non-developers only need
to be comfortable with configuration files. GeoMOOSE has a number of
strengths including modularity, configurability, and delivers a number
of core functionalities in its packages. The project has targeted
local government business cases to distribute land records
information, but many other users have used it for much more. Since
GeoMOOSE is open source project it built on other popular open source
projects such as OpenLayers (www.openlayers.org) and MapServer
(www.mapserver.org). To get started with GeoMOOSE, simply go to the
download page and install the software demo.
