Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] Call for ideas on osgeo activities

2016-04-25 Thread Dirk Frigne
We can try to discuss the first results on BOF on FOSS4G-NA, GWF and
other activities going on... Discussing Face2f can help in getting feedback.

I will put this on the agenda during the workshop about OSGeo Europe on
the GWF OSGeo day on May 24, 2016 in Rotterdam.

Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] WorldWind GeoForAll @ OSGeo+ICA+ISPRS+OGRS

2016-04-25 Thread Dirk Frigne
Patrick,

Great news!
I think it should be an interesting exercise to investigate during a
code sprint or OSGeo event how different OSGeo projects can grow closer
to each other, without loosing the diversity between all the different
initiatives we host.

Having the support of these 'big' organisations supporting open source
software, and working together with small and medium enterprises and
developers seems an interesting new way of co-creation we should try to
explore.

Dirk.

we didn't set any end-date for the survey.
Nevertheless few answers have today been received, any action to better
involve members is more then welcome.

Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] where to find logos of OSGeo ?

2016-04-25 Thread Jody Garnett
I adapted the svn template recently, and purchased the correct font, incase
you need any more generated.

(Goal was to make new sponsor logos, and two-toned logos for the OpenLayers
website)

[OSGeo-Discuss] Invitation to info. event on two University Challenges - 3rd May 2016

2016-04-25 Thread Suchith Anand

Last week's terrible earthquakes in Japan and Equador, shows that we all need
to think out of the box to find solutions to difficult research areas like
Earthquake prediction. Current and future students will be the ones who will
find solutions for seemingly difficult research areas like Earthquake
prediction. Last year's NASA Europa Challenge
http://eurochallenge.como.polimi.it was won by some high school students from
Alaska who developed an amazing prototype of Global Earthquake Forecasting
system. This shows if given the opportunity students can achieve amazing
potential and be part of helping solve global challenges.

Details and video at
http://www.edlinesites.net/pages/America_Bridge_Project/Europa_Challenge

This year ,we at the University of Nottingham are supporting two excellent
Challenges (ESNC University Challenge and NASA Europa Challenge) that will
inspire students and staff to expand their ideas. Please come and participate
in this free information event that will introduce these two challenges. Both
these challenges are excellent opportunities for students and researchers to
participate. Learn more about these competitions and join whichever competition
that interests you.

Note that these are two seperate competitions that are run by two different
organisations.

Event registration details at
http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/grace/events/eventsarticles/esnc-and-europa-challenge-2016.aspx

Students and staff from the University of Nottingham and other institutions are
welcome.

Best wishes,

Suchith
