Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] OSGeo website/rebranding May Update

2017-06-10 Thread Jody Garnett
Suchith Is there any answer to my question on the number of organizations
that have provided an open source report card? While I wrote one for
boundless I am not sure I have seen any others.

For listing service providers I would like to avoid putting organizations
in the position of ranking their own participation (a weakness with the
report card approach). When listing service providers we are following the
"core contributors" and "contributors" model used by qgis and geoserver -
so the project steering committee will be the only ones in position to
influence listing order.

Note that it wasn't really specified in the EOI/RFP, but we should be
able to use Wordpress forms for alot of these things and other places
we need to collect structured data. I'm not really opposed to using
anything that makes our lives easier, but we should take care to make
sure we are keeping a copy of these collected data outside of single
vendors walled garden.

No, it's my personal invite to avoid vendor lockin, which is one of

Puzzled

We accept sponsorship from Google, we mentor students and are listed for their
Summer of Code but using a Google Form to easily collect data should be avoided.

Is it official OSGeo policy to not use Google tools?

Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] OSGeo website/rebranding May Update

2017-06-06 Thread Jody Garnett
That is a good idea, we will list it as a "resource" (you can see some
examples of resources already on there).

We can try and add it, but I am concerned your feedback needed to be in
last month as we have reviewed the final site map. Adding it as a resource
would not disrupt the site map.

How many companies/organizations have done open source report cards?
