Try a factory reset on the box: unplug the SB3, press and hold ADD on the
remote while powering up again, configure the box from scratch.

If this doesn't help, try using a wired connection.

I tried homeplugs with no success after my wireless became dodgy. I

SlimServer is just always running on my WHS box. The only time the box
is down is for a couple of minutes a month during the night following
Patch Tuesday. When it restarts on its own, SlimServer starts up
again.

I haven't had a reason to RDP to it.

[slim] Troubleshoot Live365?

2007-12-06 Thread rocket j squirrel

I have a Live365 account (the free one). I previously was able to
"receive" all of the free Live365 streams on my SB, but some time ago
(memory is hazy on details) this stopped working. Of the five streams,
one tells me that I need a Preferred Membership, so that's easily
explained. Of the remaining 4, one continues to play, but the other 3
give me the pre-recorded message "65" that I need to log on to my
Live365 account to access the music. I've popped over to Live365.com
and tested my login, and it works.

Any help sorting this out is greatly appreciated!

Re: [slim] Trouble tuning in URL

2007-12-06 Thread KoxxBoxx

Hmm, definitely something weird going on with that stream. Tried it with
SS 6.5.4 - didn't work. Then tried with Foobar - no go. Winamp 5.5 plays
the stream, but the music is corrupted (sounds like those hiccups you
get from playing a scratched cd). XMPlay, however, plays the stream
flawlessly.

It looks like it's a variable bit rate stream (Winamp reports it as
fluctuating between 110-125 kbps) - maybe that's what is causing
trouble?

Stream info in Winamp looks weird too:

Network received: 1169849 bytes
Content-Type: text/plain
Stream name: opbmusic

Below is what stream info for a "normal" Shoutcast stream looks like:

Network received: 266677 bytes
Server: Firehose Ultravox/SHOUTcast Relay Server/Linux v2.5.5
Content-Type: audio/mpeg
Metadata received: 90 bytes
Metadata interval: 24576 bytes
Stream name: SomaFM presents: Indie Pop Rocks! [SomaFM]
Current title: A Northern Chorus - Red Carpet Blues

Too bad it doesn't work with SS - they play some pretty fine music.

Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but if the Mediasmart won't let
you install slimserver, what good would a slimserver add-in (plugin?)
do? Your problem is the permissions on Mediasmart OS, not slimserver.

[slim] Help! Possible hardware problem

2007-12-06 Thread peche

I have a Squeezebox 3, about 2 years old which has developed a problem.
If I try to play a track from the PC via wireless link (the server is a
Debian machine, I've tried the stable, testing and unstable versions of
the slimserver software) the sound plays ok for about 2 seconds then
the box resets itself. Exactly the same thing happens with the switched
PC off playing podcasts or radio over Squeezenetwork.

Is there anything I can do to diagnose the problem, or to pin it down
to the Squeezebox hardware, network issues or software?

Thanks.

Re: [slim] SB3 rebuffering and reset problems

2007-12-06 Thread feliao

Guys,

I had the same rebuffering issue with SB3. Checked the network via the
network test and everything was fine.

Realised that the only change I did which led to this rebuffering issue
(it was working fine before) was that I changed the Server priority
setting. I changed it from the default setting of normal to -16 (High)
hoping to get better performance.

I switched it back to the default normal setting and everything works
perfectly now with no rebuffering at all!

Might be worthwhile just to check your server related setting and set
it back to the default setting.

> Any news on this?

I've an initial beta release of a plugin that makes use of this:

http://www.hickinbottom.com/autorescan/browser/tags/1.0b1/AutoRescan.tgz?format=raw

It's for SqueezeCenter 7.0 on Linux only as it relies on inotify
support, so also make sure you've got that compiled into your kernel. A
quick way of checking, I think, is to make sure you have the directory
"/proc/sys/fs/inotify" present.

This seems to work OK for me in the limited testing I've performed. I
can add files and change their tags, and that's picked up pretty
rapidly by SqueezeCenter.

The only problem at the moment is that it doesn't react to deletion
(and moving files will count as an add and a delete). That's because
there doesn't appear to be an easy interface to remove individual music
data from the database in the same way that it can be added with a
rescan of a particular folder.

Comments welcome.
