Re: [slim] Problems with player pausing.
I don't think signal quality is even an issue. It is the inability of the SB to recover from a wifi problem. I don't mind cut outs at all. I actually expect it. And as I have posted already in this thread, I had this problem when I had 95% signal quality in the same room. The Boom has 65% signal quality and has the same problem. It makes no difference if it is flac or mp3 and signal quality makes no difference. When I had 15-20% signal quality and the SB3 was handling the wifi, I had all kinds of cutouts (as expected) and rebuffering, but it always would recover and keep playing. This is different, it is a permanent stop that lasts for ever and the server does not seem to be what is locked up (this has also happened with 2 different routers and every build of server software from about 6.53 to the current versions. -- lemmy999 lemmy999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9284 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=64554 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Yeah, WiFi certainly seems the culprit here, and not a big shocker with only a 35% signal. :( I can tell you I can stream FLAC without issue, but that's with a 78% signal strength. I've even seen posts in here of people streaming FLAC using a double-hop WiFi setup (player and PC both using WiFi), but again I'm sure their signal strength is quite good. To be honest, I'm quite surprised you have so few interruptions streaming FLAC with only a 35% signal. Maybe one or two song cut outs per day is about as good as it can get with your current setup. Maybe getting a WiFi repeater? Using DD-WRT or Tomato FW to boost your signal? It's not like it INTENTIONALLY made it un-intuitive As I said: I'm seriously interested to learn what could be improved. Yet a simple "it's not intuitive" doesn't really help a lot if I don't even know WHAT is not intuitive. The one point you mention (not being able to get back from NowPlaying to browse menus) has been an issue of long debate during the first beta phase and so far nobody came up with a solution that would not make something else un-intuitive. I was really into dropping the horizontal scrolling on NowPlaying for 1.2 yet the alternatives (more buttons, a button press before you can switch pages, hierarchical pages) weren't too cool either. So for now I've got more comments from my beta testers suggesting to leave it as it is than to change it. The full proposal about the new design is here: https://trac.penguinlovesmusic.de/trac/ipengnat/wiki/NowPlaying Right now, if you update to 3.0 you get another variant, which may be quite straightforward: you can't swipe to get to NowPlaying anymore, so you just have the subpages on NowPlaying and you have to switch between NP and the main (browse) menu using the buttons in the Navigation Bar. Is this better? So yes: suggestions welcome. -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote, at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=64543 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] New "Logitech MM STREAM Squeezebox Touch" spotted !!
Here's an interesting idea. Why not LICENSE the Squeezebox/Transporter technology to high-end manufacturers to integrate into their line of preamps (kinda like how Audyssey is being implemented in mid-fi receivers). It would be awesome to see Squeezebox/Transporter capability included with, for example, the Modwright line, Cary Audio, McIntosh, many others. I suspect it would be a LOT cheaper for those manufacturers to license the technology rather than develop a similar (competing) platform in-house. That would also guarantee Logitech a much broader marketshare, and long-term viability, for the "Squeeze" platform. My "ideal" Squeeze/Transporter product would be one truly designed as a high-end preamp, with easy switching to other sources, SET and balanced outputs, 24/192 capability, and home theater bypass. mherger;434253 Wrote: > > I am seriously thinking of upgrading from Transporter to Linn/Naim > > solutions. > > Why? > > > If there is a Transporter 2.0 in the works, I will hold off > > until the new one comes out. > > Again: why?
