Re: [slim] Playlist "Macro" URL Commands - Maybe Kidsplay?
0.3 mostly fixes the UI problems -- the first time SBS asks my protocol handler for metadata on the URL, my plugin registers info with SBS that's used in the various UIs. Along with that, there's a new arg you can put in squeezecli: and squeezeexec: URLs: "title". If set, that arg will be the title displayed in the various UIs. For instance, Code: squeezecli:secret=123456789012&p0=power&p1=0&title=Turn%20player%20off would be labeled "Turn player off" in the various UIs. If you don't set a "title" arg, the UI will show a simplified URL (with the "secret" arg redacted), e.g. for "squeezecli:secret=123456789012&p0=power&p1=0" you would see the track title "squeezecli:&p0=power&p1=0". -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78259 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Two presses to make presets play?
Ever since updating to 7.5 it can take two presses to get my presets to play. Restart the server service 1. Hold down a # key - Screen says "press and hold to save" 2. Let go before any save happens - Nothing plays 3. Hold down the key again - Screen says "press and hold to save" 4. Let go before any save happens - The presets starts playing When I was using 7.4 the presets started playing after step #2. With 7.5 this doesn't happen**. I deleted my presets and re-added them but the same behavior persists. I read a ton of threads on presets but didn't see this problem mentioned anywhere. This affects both my SB1 and SB3 using two different remotes. **This only occurs when starting to play a preset after I haven't played anything for a while (e.g. in the morning or getting home from work) OR right after restarting squeezeboxserver so I don't think the server is going to sleep and needs some time to wake up. Once I start playing things the presets work with just one key press as expected. Am I missing something? Any suggestions? Re: [slim] Router overheating with multiple devices?
Well I took the easy route and sprang for a Linksys WAG120N. Like Ms Fonda said oh so many years ago - no pain, no gain. Wired performance worse - SLIMP3 keeps rebuffering (unless this is yet another 7.5 bug; note to self - do not install latest upgrades unless they fix a problem I actually experience). Wireless performance abysmal. My Boom outide on the terrace used to have a 40% signal - now down to 2% - yes TWO PERCENT. That sleek sexy design with high WAF and internal antennas leaves something to be desired from a performance perspective IMHO. So I'm now looking at Buffalo WHR-HP-G54. Wiki doesn't have much to say but the reviews are fairly favourable and one of its USPs is supposed to be high power 802.11g. Otherwise it's something like the Hawking Hi-Gain™ Wireless-G Range Extender (HWREG1) but it's more than twice the price of an access point / router. Again -any views? Can't believe I'm the only person with these problems and My Good Friend Search has not really helped. Any views? Re: [slim] Spotify on Squeezebox now possible?
I've done some aditional searching and found a wrapper for controlling Spotify, written i vb.net (the language I've been using to earn a living the last 10 years) and it calls some windows api's to get the window and send keypresses (just as you suggested). If I take that code and put it in an application that listens to an port; would you be willing to write the SB part of the code? Soundstreaming has to be done through the DSBridge solution, so the SB plugin/applet should somehow get the stream from the DSBridge solution. It should capture play/pause/next/prev and send them to my application via tcp/ip. It will be a limited and windows only solution but I'm perfectly fine with this for my own use :-) It seems fairly easy to implement search functionality through the official Spotify API, so in a future versions it would be possible to implement search in SB which gets transferred to "my" app and then return the result back to SB. -- mariowing SqueezeCenter on Windows Home Server. Re: [slim] Announce: New Squeezeslave 0.9 Release available on sourceforge
Ralphy thanks a lot, I'm on the lookout for a "real" 44100kHz usb sound card. The only thing i'm going to try still is to play it of a windoooze pc and see if it takes 44.1kHz from that. I've read a lot lately, also about the dmix, you could just define multiple dmix's, like dmix1, dmix2 and choose thoose in squeezeslave, so multiple cards should be possible, but they have to accept 44.1kHz first. I also wonder if i should try to update the usb_audio_snd driver, i'll see if a newer version is there. Any suggestions on usb sound cards that work? Re: [slim] What do you do with CD inserts?
I kept the Cd's with the most interesting inlay cards in a small bookcase and boxed the rest in the loft. I find that in practice as you are not opening CD cases every time you play a track you never see the inlay card and so they rarely get looked at. I do miss looking at the artwork but not having 400+cds racked up in the lounge. With more and more music available to buy as FLAC I think my CD buying days are limited.
