Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android

2010-07-24 Thread Korny Sietsma
This thread just convinced me to go out and get it - nice app; I especially
like being able to download direct to my phone.

Is there some way to stream music to the phone? Not really a vital feature,
but I could be tempted to make my server internet-facing if I could play the
music anywhere...

I just got a new Samsung Captivate and this was my first app that I

 wonderful AMOLED screen.

Not specific to your app maybe, but I was pleasantly surprised at how
fast and easy it was to get it. Searched for squeeze, click, buy,
download, run, find my music library, start playing a song all in
 literally about one minute!

Well, it is a planned feature for SqueezeCommander, but not yet
implemented:
http://www.squeezecommander.com/trac/ticket/4

For now, you can use a streaming app for Android and connect to
http://your.server.ip:9000/stream.mp3. You can add ?bitrate=128 to
set the bitrate.

The stream can be controlled from within SqueezeCommander (with high
latency, though).

[slim] Alarm volume on synced players

2010-07-24 Thread JJZolx

Alarms play on all sync players, but is the alarm's volume setting
applied or do they play at the existing volume level on those other
players?

Are alarms really supposed to play on all synced players ?
I'm not sure I like to wake up the whole house at 6am just because all
the Squeezeboxes were used in synced playback the day before.

As long as I can remember, they have always worked that way.

Maybe an additional alarm setting to unsync the player before firing
the alarm would be a good idea. I'm not sure I've seen anyone mention
the current way as a problem, though. My guess would be that most
people don't usually keep bedroom players synced to others.

If I remember correctly there was some discussions regarding this when
investigating the Radio alarm problems. The problem with the Radio
alarm is that it's partly implemented on the client side where no
synchronization exists, the result could be a pretty complex scenario
where the alarm state on the client side isn't synchronized between the
different devices. This issue of course doesn't exist on the IP3K based
devices where the whole alarm handling is implemented on the server,
possibly with the exception of the Boom which I'm not sure if there are
some client side logic involved.

What should happen when you turn off a synchronized alarm ? Should it
only turn of the local player or should it turn off the alarm in all
rooms ? Just because I'm awake doesn't mean all the other people in the
house are. What if one person hits sleep and another hits off ?

I'm guessing most people don't use alarm together with synchronized
devices. If there is someone that uses this and reads this thread it
would be interesting to get some information how it works and how they
use them.

[slim] Flickr on an SB Controller - how?

2010-07-24 Thread alanj

Hi, How do I get the Flickr App to work on an SB Controller?

It used to show up on my Home menu but said no account and to go to
Mysqueezebox. I did this and added an account and authorized it
successfully.

However now the Flickr icon has vanished from the SBC Home menu and the
My Apps submenu. I've tried enabling and disabling Flickr in
Mysqueezebox. Tried enabling and disabling show on Home menu. Tried
rebooting the SBC many times.

But Flickr has refused to show its face again.

What have I done wrong?

Running 7.5.1 on Linux. SBC is at 7.4.1-r7915

[slim] Audiobook Resume Ever Implemented?

2010-07-24 Thread MBSqueeze

Greetings,

Love my Squeezebox products (duet, boom, radio). I'm listening to more
audiobooks these days and it's a pain to remember where I left off, and
even more of a headache to FF back to where I left off, particuarly for
a long book. I've seen a few threads on this dating back to 2004, but I
haven't seen any implementaions of having SB remembering where a user
pauses in a large file. Theres a dead link pointing to a dean-frane
site but that's about all.

Does anyone know if there are any plans for this someday, or a plugin
somewhere? I'm running v7.6

Thanks,
Mark
