i believe SBS should support id3 in FLAC, (as legacy support) but i also believe anyone reading this or any tag editor should properly clean up their files, since there no longer is a reason to have id3 in FLAC. i strip any id3s from my flacs. in EAC, make sure your FLAC config has turned off insert id3 tags. also, there are many year frames in id3, so you have to be sure which frame is used/edited. -- MrSinatra www.lion-radio.org using: sb2 & droid (my home) / duet & ipeng (parents' home) - sbs 7.5.5b - win7 ie9 & xp pro sp3 - p4(ht) 3.2ghz, 2gig ram - 1tb wd usb2 raid1 - d-link dir-655 - 49k+ mp3/flac ::VOTE FOR 'BUG 15604' (http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=15604)!!!:: MrSinatra's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89957 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Dead SB3 - PSU or SB3 Itself?
I do not believe it... When I ordered the parts I needed last week, I found the SB Touch power block easily enough, and remembered I needed power plates. There was only one set there (white), but I needed them and so ordered them. Today, the Fedex package arrives finally. I try to fit the power plates - strange they won't go on easily, in fact they won't go on at all. A bit of research later, and visiting the UK Logitech store I see that the plates I have are - Power Plug Plates, PureFi Anywhere (US,UK,EU,AU) - white, without AC Adaptor PN 993-000108 and what is now on the Logitech CH store that was misisng last week? - Netzstecker-Adapter für Squeezebox-Produkte (USA, Großbritannien, EU, Australien) ohne Netzteil Teile-Nr. 993-000203 WTF? The SB plates were not listed last week! Oh well, yet more hassle with Logitech (currently I am without a server, and trying to use mySB.com in Europe is a lesson in frustration). With a bit of luck they'll exchange it, or at least tell me where to buy locally. But I'm expecting them to say "tough/so what" (customer service in Switzerland is often an oxymoron), and have to order again (paying delivery this time) and waiting another week for the delivery from the Netherlands. The make file can be downloaded from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=36QAMT13 md5sum: faa279d3f29dd680f85b6430efd6df93 Squeezeslave works quite well out of the box even with the noFPU version posted on the first page but I believe this tailored made version should reduce cpu usage quite a lot. Will do more testing comparing those two. To run it as service (so it will start automatically) just paste the following code into /etc/event.d/squeezeslave and save it (you need write access on the root folder, if not just remount / as rw) Code: description "Squeezeslave Daemon for WebOS" author "s7mx1" version 1.0 # don't start until the WebOS finishes it's normal boot # that way no delay is added to the GUI startup start on stopped finish stop on runlevel [!2] # don't try to log any output console none # Uncomment to make sure squeezeslave don't slow down GUI use #nice 5 # Restart the squeezeslave if it exits/dies respawn # make sure the path to squeezeslave is up to date # replace MAC_ADDRESS by your touchpad's mac address # replace SQUEEZE_SERVER by your squeezeserver's ip address # remove "-Y /tmp/squeezeslave.log -d slimproto,slimaudio_output" if you do not want logging at all exec /opt/sbin/squeezeslave -m MAC_ADDRESS -R -k 10 SQUEEZE_SERVER -Y /tmp/squeezeslave.log -d slimproto,slimaudio_output Change the MAC_ADDRESS, SQUEEZE_SERVER and path to squeezeslave (default to /opt/sbin) accordingly. Since this weekend I (re)started the use of MusicIP. Setup: music on a QNAP NAS TS-459 Music Ip installed on a Windows 7 machine Scanning direclty from the windows machine pointing to the files on the QNAp server. By scanning the music via MIP, I get a lot of files that are thrown in the network recycle bin of my QNAP. Strangely enough the files are still present on it's normal place as well. So it seems that when i delete the files in the recycle bin that I still will have my music available. My questions: 1) Do you recognize this kind of behaviour form MusicIP 2) What does it make that a file comes into the recycle bin 3) It seems that there is no issue to delete the files in the recycle bin as the 'deleted'' music is still avaialble on the normal place. [slim] Recent sbs problems - what does this mean?
Here's an extract of a reply I got from Customer Support: 'Thank you for your e-mail. We are investigating the exact causes of the disconnection. However, we have found a work-around. Many routers randomly change the channel in varying intervals. The reasoning behind this is that the random channels will decrease potential interference, and therefore increase network speed. We found that by disabling this ability in the router settings, the issue is "solved". Now, ideally, you shouldn't have to change the router-setting in order to make the Squeezebox work, so here at Logitech, we are trying to work out why this happens. At some point new firmware will be released dealing with the issue. In the mean time,.. the work-around I suggested should fix the issue you have. Unfortunately, I can't advice you exactly where in the router this setting can be found, as it changes from manufacturer to manufacturer.' I assume they are referring to automatic channel selection? Mine's set to manual, so there's another theory down the drain! -- castalla castalla's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15624 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=90047 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Phil Leigh;654319 Wrote: > Try giving the SB3 and the Server static IP addresses. > And, indeed, the duet and the controller. The 'flooding' worries me, though. Are the systems re-downloading the firmware (this happens if they switch between MySqueezebox.com, and your own SBS server), and perhaps doing that repeatedly for some reason? I cannot think why that should repeat, though, but if the flood is more than a minute something quite strange is going on. I'm unfamiliar with either the PogoPlug, or WHS, but whichever you use, DO make sure they are NOT providing a DHCP service in addition to any DHCP service your router might be providing. Phil Leigh;654319 Wrote: > Also make sure that either the SB3 or the Server is WIRED to the router This is an interesting suggestion; I was wondering if the 'flood' (which is puzzling me) might be some kind of 'discovery' protocol not working happily. Maybe discovery doesn't work well if everything is wireless, that is possible because wireless takes time to authenticate and some protocol time-outs could(=might) be too short to accommodate that delay and so keep retrying. Maybe. Not sure. Wiring those systems is a good idea - even just to 'check' if it isn't normally what you'd prefer. I've one other suggestion - just for a test. Disconnect your internet connection - if you can without upsetting anything else too much - so that nothing is trying to reach mysqueezebox.com, or reloading firmware, or trying to auto-update, or anything like that. (My idea is to somehow reduce the network loads so that we can see what 'aspect' of the SB operations is causing the flood and the other problems.) Keep the internet disconnected, and then switch off the SB3 and duet and controller, then switch them on again - so that this second time they will have absolutely no need to re-load their firmware because nothing will have changed. Do post back with any results you get, good or bad. Good luck. It certainly ought to be working, and the family ought to be able to enjoy it, too. regards, Atlantic -- Atlantic Atlantic's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44239 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=90044 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Several Problems
Hi I have a Squeezebox 3 and a Duet connected to Squeezebox server running on WHS 2011. I recently moved from a PogoPlug ARM setup to WHS 2011 to try and get around a number of problems I have been having for a period of time. However moving the server does not seem to have fixed the problems. Problems 1) When I go start the SB 3 ( which is connected to my main Hi-Fi setup ) it regularly has to be powered off before it will connect to the server. I normally have to do this to the Duet Receiver as well. 2) My network gets flooded and I have to restart the SB 3. The SB 3 seems to flood the network. Whilst the network being flooded other activities on the network come to a grinding halt and Music on the Squeezebox only plays for a few seconds every minute. 3) This is more of a general issue than a problem. The system is just not wife friendly. Every time I go to show my wife how to use the system, something goes wrong or the interface on the web or controllers are too complex to be wife or family friendly. I have had the system for several years but have had varying problems over the years which have left me feeling that the solution it not really consumer friendly. b.t.w. I have worked in IT for over 20 years, so do not have any issues with setting the system up etc. If I could at least resolve the issue where having to restart the SB 3 and Receiver frequently then I might be able to persuade the family to use the system. Thanks -- stewa stewa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=49445 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=90044 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Serveral houirs a day (e.g. yesterday) I cannot listen to the radio because it is messed up. And I did not buy the box to study information technology but to use it as an radio etc. Guess i would not buy it again... -- alirenn alirenn's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=49440 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89831 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
