I haven't done so yet. That project is on hold for a while. But I
thought that SqueezePlay might work well as a player on a car computer.
It has touch interface with roughly the same aspect ratio, is something
I'm familiar with, and I've gotten used to the SB world and having
things like the ability to browse New Music, make ad hoc playlists, and
use Random Mix.

JJZolx, I run mine at 800x600 - not too far from the 800x480 you run -
and it looks awesome. But I admit bigger wouldn't be better. I did try
at 1024x768 and 1280x1024 just for testing sake, but I must admit it
does not optimally use the available room.

but I remember the first thoughts when I realized there was no
"fullscreen compatible skin" - as long as it doesn't look bad.

That being said, at 800x600 with a custom background, it looks great.

but I must admit: I am curious as to why you'd want to run a
squeezenetwork device on a car.. :D

Question: What should we call this new device?

- Open Music Box
- Melodia
- Phoenix
- Harmonic
- None of the above

I've started working on the board files so I had to come up with a name,
after going through all these threads the only ones that I liked were
SWAMP and Phoenix, given that Phoenix is a fairly popular name, SWAMP it
is! The board I'm designing now is the SWAMP05.

Remember this is just the codename for the internal development (just
like fab4 was the codename and Squeezebox Touch was the marketing name)

One possibility is that some laptop screens don't actually scale, if you
feed them a screen that is smaller than their native resolution, rather
than scaling the screen, it just displays it at the native resolution
with extra space around the edges.

My wife's old Dell does that but my Thinkpads scale properly.

Re: [slim] better windows app to control squeezebox

2013-03-02 Thread JJZolx

The SqueezePlay user interface doesn't scale well to anything close to
full screen on a PC. I created an 800x480 skin a while ago to fit a car
PC touchscreen, which worked fine. But with the purely list nature of
the user interface, I can't imagine what you'd do with anything much
larger. It would be mostly empty space. If you could create a larger
coverflow interface, or one that lays covers out in a grid, then it
might make some sense, but SqueezePlay is as basic as basic gets and
only gets ugly and less useful when it's made larger.

Hopefully we will be able to arrange some kind of migration before this
happen, but in a worst case scenario someone will likely post a link to
a new place on the official Logitech forums http://forums.logitech.com.
We won't migrate to use the official Logitech forum, but it's a good
place to look for a link to the new place if you realize this forum is

both the information and users, we just have to be able to convince

Re: [slim] better windows app to control squeezebox

2013-03-02 Thread Marsupial

Castalla... do you run Squeezeplay "maximized" ?

I realised that if we set the launch option in windows to make the
software run "maximized", that it will not be "re-sized" at its full
size but only occupy it without resizing so most of the screen isn't
being used. Its rather ugly.
Might be what you are experiencing, seems somewhat similar to what you
describe. For me, I had to run it "at the appropriate size" from the get
go- which implied to specify the proper sizes in
FullscreenSkinApplet.lua; plus having an application to "auto-maximize"
the window for SqueezePlay. I have added it in the startup folder, so it
now launch maximized when the computer is booted.

Resizing it on the go seems to somewhat works too.

Let me know if that helps.

calling phone support when something doesn't work is probably best way
to get on their radar screen. And you won't notice the "betrayal" until

Re: [slim] How does synch work? (squeezlite + 2x SB)

2013-03-02 Thread epoch1970

You can try reducing the alsa buffer time in squeezelite. I have good
synching results with "-a 10:4::1", and even 8. I think the player
defaults to 20. If you go too low, you'll get audio glitches. If I read
the 10:4 right, it means alsa sends an interrupt and reads its buffer
every 2,5 millisecondsÂ…
Audio delay didn't really help me either. Start delay (as found on SB3)
is not implemented but I wouldn't guess this could be useful or not.
If you're using a small CPU, too much load at song startup may cause bad
sync for a few secs. I don't think there is any way around that.

Re: [slim] better windows app to control squeezebox

2013-03-02 Thread Marsupial

Hi Castalla.

the files are meant to replace those already present in C:\Program
Files\Squeezebox\SqueezePlay\lua\applets\FullscreenSkin
(it couldn't hurt to make a backup.) I tried to create a new folder and
make a "new skin" but haven't managed to get it to work yet, so it is in
fact "replacing" an unused skin.

then you start squeezePlay, and from its main menu you go Settings>
Screen> Select Skin> it is called "Desktop Skin"

The skin is pretty much WQVGA Large Print that has been extended to a
specific resolution <- that was part of the original fullscreen skin,
that I think was non-adaptive at a set size. someone who'd like a
different resolution could very well edit the FullscreenSkinApplet file,
and change

if screenWidth < 800 or screenHeight < 600 then
screenWidth = 800
screenHeight = 600
end

to whatever resolution you want. the way I see it, the skin is adaptive
and will work.

here's screenshots of what it currently looks on mine.

145491455014551

Further changes is possible, but I feel this is an "acceptable"
fullscreen skin that people might enjoy.

Sorry, I haven't been around for a few days...

The two capacitors are clearly marked as C16 and C20 right by the
silkscreeen print on the circuit board, so you don't even need to look
at the schematic.

And yes, soldering needs to be done. And it isn't quite trivial as the
capacitors are SMD devices, so it is easy to do collateral damage if you
don't have the right tools and the experience. So if you never soldered
any SMD before, I recommend looking for someone to help you.

2013-03-02 Thread ciarpame

Installed DSbridge on Windows 7 32bit and it worked at first try, very
easy. My LMS is 7.7.2 running on Arm-based readynas.

On LMS I can see artist and track title but not track duration (track
it's just an infinite stream, as playing a web radio) and not cover
art.
Since dsbridge has not be updated since 2009 I suspect it's no more able
to get cover art from last spotify version.

Is there anyone here that can see cover art?

Thank for your help.

Re: [slim] More bad news re the future of mysqueezebox.com

2013-03-02 Thread erland

Just remember that the best way to ensure that Logitech prioritize to
ensure that mysqueezebox.com continue to work is to use it and complain
a lot to them when it doesn't work. If people are using it and
complaining when it doesn't work, they will hopefully realize they
either have to hire the right people to operate it or they have to hand
over the operation to someone who knows how to handle it or they have to
remove the dependencies to mysqueezebox.com to make their devices work
without it.
