Are you saying that you are aren't interested in online music at all, or is it just streaming services which streams radio where you can't select the exact track or artist which you aren't interested in ? In my mind, there are at least the following types of online streaming services: - *Internet radio*: Streams radio, you can select radio station but not much more, TuneIn would be a sample of this. Typically available for free. - *Personalized radio*: Streams radio but you are able to influence the content, for example selecting an artist and it plays music from this or similar artists, Pandora would be a sample of this. Typically free or available for a small fee. - *Music on demand*: Lets you select an individual track, album or artist in same way as you can do in your local library, some samples of this is Spotify, Deezer, Rhapsody. Typically requires a small monthly subscription fee. Are none of these of interest to you or are you still interested in the last "Music on demand" services ? I think ickStream can provide some benefits also for people who are only interested in local music, especially on longer terms or if you like to combine hardware from different manufacturers or for some reason want to use another content server than LMS, but the main advantages from ickStream comes if you want to combine local and online music and want to use the other cloud services we provide. erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98467 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] 1.FM Adore Jazz not
They don't seem to be supported through the Tunein app, though you can find and listen to then via Tunein on your phone or desktop. On the other hand, you can find these stations via the "Internet Radio" app which lets you search Shoutcast. Just search for "1.FM" and you'll see all the stations; from there you can play any of them on the Squeezebox. Re: [slim] Pre-Announcement: ickStream Music Platform
I'm completely comfortable with cloud-based services. However, I seldom listen to music as background; when I listen I like to listen purposefully. I have virtually no interest in streaming audio. This probably makes me a-typical, but I just won't have much use for the platform except as a way to play my local music. And, although this may disqualify me from being a beta tester (didn't want to be anyway), no matter how hard I try I just can't get past the name. You may not want to talk about it, but a name that instantly evokes an image of the consequences of infection by -Vibrio cholerae- is not one that you want to market to English-language locations. The instant it goes public social media will pounce and it will become a laughing-stock. Dead in the water. RIP. R. Re: [slim] 02 Joggler 50 quid again
I love my Joggler and you're right Mint works very well. However if you want the joggler to be a dedicated part of your squeezebox universe I'd actually suggest roobarbs SqueezeplayOS to be a better option, its based on Ubuntu 10.04 but without a desktop environment, squeezeplay is the native GUI. It includes loads of useful extras, MPlayer so you can use Play WMA and Play AAC and other plugins to support those file types, Shairport for Apple Airplay support, LMS and some other nice stuff. You can even install a modified version of Triodes EDO app and with a suitable DAC get 24/192 working Obviously you can all this stuff to Mint easily enough but IMO this is better for the job. All just my opinion and it's easy to try all the options by swopping USB sticks (although SqueezeplayOS can be installed on the internal memory as well which is cool) I personally don't use the Jogglers wifi which is actually a USB device installed internally so boot mine from a USB stick installed internally for a neater look and to have the USB port free. Anyway I rambled on there much more than I meant to, as you can tell I rather like the joggler. :-) Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD jimbobvfr400's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56857 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78759 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] 02 Joggler 50 quid again
I know it's an old, old thread - but for anybody using a joggler: I've installed Linux Mint and it's a very pleasant experience. http://joggler.exotica.org.uk/mint/ Easier to set up than Ubuntu - although lots in the image files that can be uninstalled if you just want a tiny LMS server. I have ordered, but have not yet received the hardware listed on item #8 of the Community Squeeze FAQ page. My assumption after reading most of the associated threads that deal with both the yet to be released John Swenson CSP1/2 as well as the CSOS software, is that upon completion of the basic Wandboard assembly and installation of the CSOS image as described on the Quick Start Guide page, it will be able to play audio?... i.e. I will be able to familiarize myself with and test the system while I wait for the CSP1/2 to become available? I made the above assumption when I read the following statement on the COS Quick Start Page"By default the Wandboard SqueezeBox will be called SqeezeliteWAND, you should now be able to select this player and play some tunes!" Hi, I'm currently playing with a Raspberry Pi and have installed Squeezeplug to serve my Touch. So far it's proving reliable and has sidelined my rather noisy Toshiba laptop. I would like to install Squeezelite but wondered whether anyone had compiled a driver for the Hiface 1 to use with Squeezeplug,Squeezelite and the Pi. I have tried the Behringer uc 202 but there have been issues where music has stopped playing. I'd be very grateful if somebody could point me in the right direction.
