I can also recommend a Synology NAS. I have a DS 1511+ which is very
fast and gives a very good responsiveness for LMS. The current DS 1512+
presumably is even faster.

Potential buyers should note that the SB shown in the photo is a
Squeezebox (aka Squeezebox 1), and definitely not a Squeezebox 2. If it
were a SB2 it would say *Model: Squeezebox2*.

Also see http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Hardware_comparison for
details on the differences, which are significant from a performance
point of view.

Thanks, Toby, this does work using LMS, but not on mysb using (for me,)
--  ANY player.

I had a work-around URL that worked as a Favorite sent to the radio via
MYSB and Tunein, for quite a while for my two main stations, 50s & 60s
and Classic Rock, but they don't work any more on the Booms. (it
'recently' quit working, as described above)

I didn't notice this right away, since I do listen to both of these on
my SoundBridge radios, which do play AAC, so I just use an AAC url for
them.

I do not run or want to run my computer 24/7, so I primarily use mysb
for everything on the Booms and Duet. If anyone knows a workaround URL
to get these back, I sure would appreciate it.

I really enjoy especially the 1.FM 50-60s station because it plays an
interesting mix of mid 50s pop, country, R&R and into the mid-late 60s
also. I have several stations that have a good mix, but not usually
with the 50s pop, which sounds like my Dad's station when I was growing
up.

thanks for any suggestions...

Re: [slim] ANN: Orange Squeeze 1.3.0 released!

2013-04-30 Thread jimbobvfr400

Using the recent apps button is just the same number of presses and for
me at least I find the notification in SC a pain sometimes as the only
way to properly quit is to go back to the app and then back out with at
least 2 presses of the back button.

If however the notification was to include proper ICS and JB controls
like Google music does then yes count me in.

So far, I like what I've seen in Orange Squeeze. There is one
shortcoming that makes me hesitate to migrate from Squeeze Commander: an
icon in the notification area that will let you quickly access the app
from anywhere. Is this in the roadmap?

Yes I totaly agree, these guys do a lot of great work. And some of them
are putting a lot of time in it – all for the sake of the community and
free of charge (let’s not forget that). I wish I had some useful skills
to contribute something other than the testing I’ve done so far.

Re: [slim] Squeezebox Server with Squeezeslave to turn on speakers when playing

2013-04-30 Thread RobbeD

Hello,

Sorry for bumping this thread, but for people who are still searching
for an easy script to trigger a relay i've created a python script that
runs at boot.
The script checks the powerstate of the player every second (script runs
on a raspberry pi where squeezelite is installed), and if powerstate = 1
then relay is turned on, otherwise the relay is turned off.
It works perfectly. The only thing you need to enter is the mac-adress
of your player and the adress of your server (ip adress or url).

For the start up process i let the script wait 5 minutes before it gets
executed, because if the player and the server are on the same machine,
and the machine is rebooted, it takes a while to start lms.

If there are things that can be changed in order to make the script
better (I'm sure that will be easy, this was my first python script) ,
feel free to do so and post your changes please! :-)

Code:

  import sys
  import httplib
  import RPi.GPIO as GPIO
  import time

  time.sleep (300)

  if float(sys.version[:3]) >= 2.6:
  import json
  else:
  # python 2.4 or 2.5 can also import simplejson
  # as working alternative to the json included.
  import simplejson as json

  # change to your server

  server = "yourserverip"
  playermac = "your player mac adresse"

  # This provides http 1.1 keep alive so preventing DNS lookup
  # For each request.

  while True:

#Make a python dictionary for the request.
