We haven't analyzed this part of the functionality in detail yet, the real question here is how much we should focus on families. A single user can only be at one place at the time so for a single user your use case doesn't make sense, but for a family I understand that it makes sense. In a family we obviously have the scenario that one family member might want to play one kind of music in one room while another family member might want to play different music in a another room simultaneously. In my mind, it might be possible that we consider to have some kind of support for a family concept, where each family member have individual ickStream accounts but they can configure that the playback resources should be possible to share within the family. I suspect a solution like this would solve your usage scenario at least partly. Each family member would have their own ickStream and pandora account and they would be able to output the music on any player in the house. I'm less optimistic about having some kind of pool solution where you can setup a pool of premium streaming accounts, for example three Pandora accounts, and the system picks the first free account when someone wants to stream Pandora music. I think such solution would probably violate the user agreement some of the premium streaming providers have and it will also result in that you loose all personalization features the premium streaming provider offers you to setup in their account. None of this is of course a problem for premium streaming services that allows multiple songs to be streamed simultaneously from the same account, I'm not sure what kind of restrictions Pandora have in this regard. Yes we always plan to have just the carrier board available. You can do everything you mentioned right now with the wandboard as is, it comes with a USB host port that works with most USB DACs and the I2S pins are available on the IO connectors on the wandboard. JackOfAll is working on an I2S driver that will work with that. The one thing a DIY type might be missing is a way to get an external clock into the processor. The signals for this are on the module (which is one of the reasons for choosing the wandboard in the first place), BUT is not brought out to the IO connectors. The CSP1 carrier board WILL have the I2S and external clock signals on an internal connector. I'm not sure a separate board will be developed just for this purpose, we are getting some economies of scale here and producing a board that only a few people are going to want is going to wind up costing more than the full blown board with everything on it. If someone really wants the board without the DAC chips and headphone amp they can unsolder those parts. John S. Re: [slim] Pre-Announcement: ickStream Music Platform
In your other post you wrote: One limitation I still want to apply is that with one online streaming account you will still only be able to stream a single song to one device or to multiple devices synchronized, basically no possibility to play different songs to different devices simultaneously as this usually is prohibited by the streaming providers and won't change in the future. For example, if I have the following sources: Roku LT #1 tied to Pandora account #1 Roku LT #2 tied to Pandora account #2 squeezebox player #1 squeezebox player #2 that are connected to a board that allows selection of the input to route to one or both of two outputs, would ickstream allow for the proper control to integrate it all together with something similar to ipeng? I currently have a vortexbox, a couple of Rpi's running squeezeslave, and a bunch of amps to handle my 7 audio zones for my home. It's a pretty ugly setup. I'd like to replace it with less sources and less amplifiers, with the addition of a board that does analog switching at the input and maybe even relay switching at the output of the amps. It's all casual listening so audio quality isn't a concern. I just need to be able to listen to different music in two spots in my home at the same time and be able to play Pandora or something similar in those two spots at the same time from separate accounts. mweb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=34242 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98467 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android
That's not disabled it's just the colour of the icon, mine looks the same. The local search takes relatively longer because it's searching your local library, so searching for black will return songs with black in the title and songs by Black Sabbath etc etc Whereas global search will give categories to drill down so is comparatively much quicker as drilling down will narrow down the search query that needs to be done. I'm not sure I've explained that particularly clearly but hope that helps. I haven't looked at it yet any deeper. I'm not sure if I understand your "as an importer" question. Re: [slim] Call for testers! Daphile
New test release available at www.daphile.com! CHANGES on August 17th 2013: Initial DSD file support: - DSF (.dsf) and DSDIFF (.dff) supported (both DSD64 and DSD128) - no native DSD-over-USB (DoP) yet. Coming soon - have to get DAC with DoP support. - no support for DST compressed files (didn't find any samples) - Known issue: "Clear library and rescan everything" rescan does not include DSD files. "Look for new and changed audio files" rescan works. Linux kernel upgrade from 3.6 to 3.8 series. kipeta's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=51816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99132 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
