Re: [slim] Ok to sell Squeezebox equipment here?
Halian wrote: I'm a bit basic in the Squeezebox etc. world. I use iPeng as a controller app - on iPad and a number of family phones/iPods. I think it's a great interface to our music - people can add things to the current playlist collectively - things can be edited/moved so easily. I see a Sonos app in the App Store - does it have similar functionality? One of my two SB receivers has (I think) died - so I may be looking for something else since they are hard to replace. But I'm not happy to be doing so. If you want a more detailed answer, please start a new thread. The quick answer is that the collective editing of the current playlist is a bit different but generally similar from a feature perspective. One possible advantage on the Squeezebox is that you can view details about a track in current playlist which isn't playing while the Sonos (as far as I've seen) only makes this possible for currently playing track. When we start talking about browsing your library or music services iPeng (especially the iPad version) is a lot better because it take advantage of the larger iPad screen. The iPhone version of iPeng is also better at browsing because it generally shows more information about the album/tracks while browsing. More advanced features that are offered through third party plugins on Squeezebox is generally not available on Sonos and probably never will due to their more closed philosophy. My advice would be to wait a bit unless you urgently need something new. There are a lot of things going on at the moment both through the Community Squeeze and ickStream projects managed by people in this community but also in general in this market segment. So if it isn't urgent, I think it's better to wait a bit and see how the market evolves. However, if anyone wants to discuss this further, please start a new thread. Mark Miksis wrote: Anyone running Orange Squeeze on KitKat yet? Any issues? Maybe. I mean I am running Orange Squeeze on KitKat but I'm not sure if the issues are related to KitKat, Orange Squeeze or my brief experiment with ART rather than Dalvik. Switched to ART and everything seemed fine until I tried to access music using Orange Squeeze and the app just froze- switched back to Dalvik and the problem remained. I didn't try accessing my music before trying ART so don't know for sure if that caused the problem. Fortunately while looking for a solution I found Orange Squeeze Preview, so I got that going for me. hellnick's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14240 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97467 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Sync/rebuffering problem
Yesterday I started experiencing frequent rebuffering when my Radio and Touch are synced. Never had the problem before. Individually the players are fine. The Touch is connected via Ethernet and the Radio via WiFi. I do the sync using iPeng. I'm not sure where to start troubleshooting this...any suggestions? I'm running LMS 7.8 on a Mac running OSX 10.9, and that configuration has been working fine...no changes before this started happening. cjfreitag's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41363 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100380 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Internet radio: Couldn't resolve IP address
Hi all I know this problem has come up before but couldn't find a straight answer anywhere... I have a Boom, Touch Radio running off a FreeNAS imaged netbook and lately have lost all internet radio. The Boom gives no error message but the other two say 'Couldn't resolve IP address: opml...' etc. when I select a station If I switch to mysqueezebox.com then the radio works but I can't get to my music on the NAS. Conversely, if I'm on the local FreeNAS box, I can't get the radio. Any help greatly appreciated - I miss waking up to BBC Radio4! thanks! daytripper's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41800 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100381 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Internet radio: Couldn't resolve IP address
Your LMS is probably not communicating with mysqueezebox.com . Did you enter your credentials in LMS ? I would check the network settings especially DNS settings in the NAS . What's in the log files ? Reboot the NAS , does it work now ? Restart LMS without rebooting the NAS , any difference ? Re: [slim] Sync/rebuffering problem
WiFi for the radio, Ethernet for the Touch. It has happened with ALAC files from my library and internet streams (jazzradio.com). None of this has been problematic in the past. I guess tomorrow I will reboot the network starting with the router to see if that helps. cjfreitag's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41363 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100380 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
