Re: [slim] Last.fm going?! Doesn't look good for Squeezebox users
What would be cool would be a plugin to be able to play your last.fm "loved tracks" using other services with some search integration. That's what I hoped would be possible when they mentioned that mixes would still be available through Spotify. But my inquiries so far have gone un-responded :-(. Re: [slim] Call for testers! Daphile
Well, after my IT guy looked at the server, he reset the bios which got the hard drive recognized and it also recognized the JCAT card on Daphile. Thats the good news. The not yet good news is that while my DAC (DCS Debussy) is now showing up in Daphile, it wont lock on the signal from the server. The lock light is flashing and the sample and bit rate are stuck on 24-192. Ive rebooted (hard and soft) multiple times and have moved the flash drive Im booting from to a number of different USB port locations. Still no success. So close yet I cant quite get this working. A screen print of the settings section of Daphile is attached. Thanks for the help anyone can offer. Kipeta, Updated to latest version. now every time I start Daphile it stays on the "Please wait awhile" page and just keeps counting seconds. If I wait a few minutes and go to player page , it loads page but it won't show my networked drives because on every start it wants to rescan media even though on the previous start it completed a total scan of all storage locations. Did Last.fm allow you to select and play particular songs or albums, or did it work similar to Pandora (that is, play a mix of songs based on a track or artist, but not be able to play *particular* songs. What I like about Spotify is the ability to play specific songs or albums (mostly for previewing new music I might buy later or for one off playing of things I don't want to own). So that's my basis for liking spotify (mog or rhapsody would allow the same thing too, but I moved from MOG to spotify, because it will work even if they shut down mysb.com). Me too.:( I have over a year's Last FM subscription pre-paid. At least they say I can claim a refund (we'll have to see how quickly THAT happens...) FWIW - just as an alternative suggestion for ex Last FM subscribers - I still have a Napster/Rhapsody subscription which still has many of the same features, although its a bit dearer. Now if Napster disappeared that really would be the end of Squeezebox for me. I never really understood the appeal of Spotify (I have both but never use it). [slim] Last.fm going?! Doesn't look good for Squeezebox users
Uh oh - Last.fm discontinuing their subscription radio service and relying on third party providers to serve the music http://www.engadget.com/2014/03/26/last-fm-killing-subscription-radio/ "You'll still be able to listen to your personal stations and library via the Youtube-powered Last.fm player on the desktop (currently in beta), and users can still play their Last.fm tracks on Spotify. In other words, Last.fm will now rely on third-party providers rather than streaming from its own servers." What are the chances that the eventual solution will enable Squeezebox owners to listen to their chosen music streams as before? Slim to none I'll bet :-( Last.fm was one of the services that really made Squeezebox worthwhile for me. I listen to certain artist and genre streams all the time Or rather, listened. slimfast's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29669 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101226 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Yeah, I'll bet Bose didn't like Sonos muscling in on their main marketing ploy: national TV ads selling over priced speakers to the unwitting masses.
