 I2S DAC?

You need to look at creating an ALSA config, specifically combining 2
hardware devices into one virtual device and using that virtual device
as the squeezelite output device.

JackOfAll,

Thanks for the suggestion. Are there any threads here where someone has
done something like that? Any suggested reading on figuring out how to
do that?

Thanks,
Josh

Squeezeplay is also a 'controller'.

Funny: the product for which Squeezeplay was initially developed was the
Squeezebox Controller :-). No playback was built-in back then.

Re: [slim] Now LastFM is proper dead, Spotify or Napster?

2014-05-05 Thread pippin

In the UK you can also use Deezer. It has better sound quality than
Rhapsody/Napster, comparable to Spotify and it works on all SBs even
without LMS running.
Quite decent catalog, too.

[slim] SBT with 7.8.0 harddisk Rebuffering

2014-05-05 Thread Lessram

After updating the firmware to 7.8.0 my Squeezebox Touch suddenly has
hickups caused by Buffering.
This never happened under 7.7.2
I do not use the LMS-software, it's not even installed on my computers.
It's getting the music from a connected harddisk, so the problem is not
caused by network delays

The reason why I updated to 7.8.0 is because it often lost connection to
the server (= harddisk) when I use an Android or Windows Phone app to
select a new song.
This problem still appears though not as frequent anymore, but the
buffering problem is new.

Does anyone know a way to solve this?

You want a multi config. Google alsa multiple output for plenty of
discussion of the subject. This, 'Simultaneous audio output in ALSA for
Linux and XBMC' (http://ehelion.net/projects/alsa/alsa.html), is fairly
typical.

That seems a buggy Harddisk - btw. the Times that -defragmented-Disks

The have internal more speed than USB 1.1 / 2.0 can handle.

Check the Drive - is it a 2.5 NotebookDrive?

Re: [slim] Community Funded Squeezebox Replacement - Would you be interested?

2014-05-05 Thread JohnSwenson

I've been testing out some different RCA jacks for CSP1. I have it down
to 2 choices:
1: very robust mounting to the board, can withstand a lot of force for
tight plugs, nickel plated brass.

2: gold plated brass but not as robust mechanical connection, may
eventually have problems with tight plugs.

Both have silver plated copper center contact, they both cost about the
same and both take up the same amount of space on the board.

Any preferences out there?

Thanks,

John S.

Thanks for the explanation! I'm not giving up hope for the Chromecast.
Rumor has it that they're working on an update. After all, if Netflix

There are some people that equate gold connectors with high end. If
they don't see a gold connector they will assume the device is cheap
and no good.

If I don't use gold connectors I don't a lot of people complaining it's
not gold.

My personal preference is for the more robust connector, but I wanted to
make sure I wasn't going to have an uprising by not using gold
connectors.

+1 for robust, won't be plugging and unplugging often but also won't be

Would rather have a quality build. Not aware that there is any evidence
