That is very very niche .

An updated Touch 2 and a new reciever 2 and boom 2 , there are tons of
stuff new hardware could do and new software . More massmarket more in
line what Logitech can do ? A high end hifi product is not very Logitech
.

It would for example be no problem designing a player that supported
several protocols and servers . Like LMS dlna roon AirPlay and
Bluetooth in one box .

For the niche DSD need a 24/192 or USB output to a DSD capable DAC ? But
heck it's software so decoding it a Touch 2 would also work .

Re: [slim] Lots of buffering and dropping out - W10?

2016-01-16 Thread Mnyb

Some routers are heat sensitive , my old linksys wrt54gl was ?

Yes in general, router placement can make big difference and also how the
antennas are directed . Some routers allow for different placement on
the side instead of flat on its bottom etc , worth experimenting with ,
and its height above the floor .

One should try to get it in a central location in the home equidistant
to all things and people that needs it . Having it in a corner of the
house is waste full as much of its range will be out in the garden or
the street outside

The heat wasn't likely the issue. But likely the RF interference from
both electrical devices so close together. That will definitely impact
WiFi (which is another form of RF).

Re: [slim] Inguz EQ w/ 7.7.5 help?

2016-01-16 Thread blscorp

JohnB, your edit worked for ALAC files, marvelous! Thank you very much
for that.
I was not able successfully to bypass one of the players: deleting the
section for the player's mac address caused squeezebox to generate a new
section for that player in the custom convert file. And adding # in
front of each line didn't seem to make a difference. But that is really
a minor hurdle-- being able to process ALAC has made the plugin usable
for me for the first time, which is a major benefit.

What do you think about the Spotify streaming? The stream identifies as
OGG Vorbis, and there are Inguz DSP entries in file types for OGG Vorbis
converting to FLAC, but Squeezebox doesn't seem to be transcoding it.
For whatever reason the DSP doesn't process the stream. If you have a
theory let me know, but otherwise thanks again for the help.

Isn't it easier to add a DSD-capable DAC to a touch (or raspberry pi)?
That way you only need to change the DAC when the Next Great Format
comes along (OK, DSD wasn't even the Next Great Format back in the 90's,
but...)

Well, yes it would be nice to have - but not if the rest is moreless

Yes I do also hope it will be new software and not hardware. The watch,
especially the more expensive models are not really the sort of thing
you want to become antique in not even 1 year...

I really like mine and use it all the time. Messaging when I am at work
not being able to check my phone is great. Then Hue and iPeng - all is
good for me.
Had a Pebble before and except for battery life, which is a non issue
for me, the watch is in a completely different ballpark and a great
gadget. So, see what happens.

good luck with phone support from Verizon. My experience with cable
company support (Cox, Comcast, and TimeWarner) is that the folks you are
talking to are mostly completely unknowledgeable about how networks work
beyond asking you to plug and unplug things. I'd frankly be shocked if
anyone at phone support even knows the concept of DHCP handing out IP
addresses in your router.

I figure that you're right. I'll get the folks from Verizon Tech
Support on the phone and see if they can walk me through shutting down
the IP on that one and just use the (far superior) signal off the Apple
Extreme and Express combo.

I'll spend some more time on the APPLE site as well. Perhaps some one

That won't solve the issue of two routers, both handing out IP addresses
(that may overlap). I suspect you may need to get some network savvy
friend to help you out (to make sure DHCP is turned OFF on one of the
routers). But at least with what you've done (removing the antennas),
all your devices will likely see only a single WIFI access point.

Well, may be just me but _I_ do sometimes change the volume using the
watch, for example when you are talking with guests and want to quickly
tune down (or up...).
My biggest problem with thins right now is not that it's slow but it
lacks granularity so I would actually love to be able to use the crown.
Let's hope the newer rumors are true that it's not a 2nd generation
Watch Apple is going to present this quarter but an improved software
iteration All these rumors about Apple products all the time... ;)

Being a heavy user of your Watch App from Day 1, I believe the most
important part of the iPeng is performance - by far! So, if changing
over to OS2 means slowing down start and performance of the Watchapp,
then please do not do it.
Especially if the only improvement would be, being able to have volume
control using the crown - how often do you really change the volume?
What is the point? The other functions are used so much more and having
them slowed down would be a killer (in a bad way).
