No, I didn't mean it that broadly. A malfunctioning wifi card will
disrupt all networking interfaces in that particular SB client. But the
disruption should not extend past that device.

I have never seen one bad client take out another client like you are
describing.

Re: [slim] Pandora connection "Not Secure"?

2018-04-17 Thread Michael Herger

I've noticed lately when using my SB devices to play Pandora, both when
using 7.6.1 or if through a direct connection to Mysqueezebox.com, that
the web interface (both with Firefox and Chrome) indicates an insecure
connection. I don't listen to Pandora often and maybe this has been the
case for awhile and I didn't previously notice it, I can't say.

I think you're mixing up things. When you're listening to Pandora, you
don't interact with pandora itself, but most likely with
mysqueezebox.com or LMS. In the case of mysqueezebox.com you should be
using https://www.mysqueezebox.com

If that's not the case then you might want to elaborate.

[slim] Pandora connection "Not Secure"?

Is this something to be concerned about? Is there anything that I should
do about it?

Thanks

Re: [slim] How to connect player to LMS from outside of my network?

Hi,

- get a raspberry pi 3 or 3+ (even an RPI2 should work)
- install rasbian
- go to 'pivpn' (http://www.pivpn.io/)
- install and run the pivpn setup from the 'howto'
- open a single port on your Router eg 1194 and net it to your rpi
  with pivpn
- remove /close all the previous opened ports
- transfer the vpn config to your devices that should connect to your
  lms
- your done

That i simple safe and you can also run a squeezelite on that system -
so not ending with a additional device that only can handle a single
job.

You really won't take anyones word for it will you? If you open the
ports you will be port scanned and someone will hack in. It happens all
the time.

Re: [slim] What are your long-term SqueezeBox solutions?

2018-04-17 Thread yeomanspc

In my experience, SB rebooting is usually the PSU dying and not able to
deliver sufficient power momentarily when the going gets tough. If you
still have the old SB3, try a different PSU..

Yeah you're right :( Thanks for heads up. Anyway, I'll take the risk. I
have 9000 passworded. We'll se what will happen.

Not directly that I'm aware. Just the obvious, start playing the
favourite and then save it as a preset.
