I was afraid that was still the case. I appreciate your feedback!

[slim] Is It Possible To Repair Digital Coax Jack?

2020-08-25 Thread NFLnut

I've been having some problems with the digital coax output on my
Classic that I bought back in 2007. It either goes out completely or
just gives crackling audio until I jiggle the cable connector. Then, it
will happen again after a few minutes. Is there any way to repair this?
I can do some minor solder repairs. Just wondering how simple this would
be to repair.

I could have said the exact same thing! I LOVE my collection and listen
to it 85% of the time. BUT I also ask my crappy Alexa speaker (who seems
to get dumber and more hard of hearing every day ..) to play a playlist
or two when I don't want to grab my Controller or go to my laptop or
phone to queue up music .. like when I am cooking or working on a task
around the house. For that, I tell "Alexa-idiot" ( as I commonly refer
to her) to play something so that I can listen to some music while I
work. But yeah .. it doesn't come close to the sound quality of any of
my Squeezebox attached speakers. It just gets the job done for the time
being.

Many moons ago, I used the standard Squeezeplay OS. You used to be able
to install via debian the LMS nightlies. No idea if that route still
works due to underlying updates in the LMS distros.

Honestly, I gave up using the joggler as a LMS server because of these
problems and others. Switched to PcP on a PI - made life so much
easier!

LMS server: O2 Joggler with Jivelite, Pi Zero W with PcP 6.0

Amp: Denon PMA-50

Players/Speakers: Touch, Logitech Radios, Sonos Play 1s & Beam,
Libratone Zipp, GGMM E2 & E3, Yamaha WXAD-010, Loewe Airspeaker, Google
Chromecast Audio, Home Mini & Nest Hub, Amazon Echo 2,3 and Show5,
Pioneer WX-SMA1, Roberts S1, O2 Joggler, Cisco Joggler, Fiio M6,
Avantree Priva BT transmitter

I'm not aware of it, unless it's the one about SqueezePlay for the
Joggler.
I use PnPIII because it includes a version of LMS on board.

This is the latest one available for PnP. SqueezeOS doesn't come with
LMS unless there's more storage capacity available.

I think there has been some discussion/instructions in these forums
recently where somebody updated it.

Are you totally expecting this behaviour for this version then?

No. But a five year old package comes with its unresolved issues. And
outdated service integrations.

What would have been the purpose of the logo?

At the time there was a RadioIO streaming service available to SB users.

No. There is still no native plugin for Amazon Music and there will be
no plugin as long as Amazon does not provide open access to theire API :-(.

However, you can use the Amazon Music app on iOS and stream the music
via AirPlay to a LMS player.

this will work with bitrates up to CD quality, but not for hires content.

Maybe it is also possible to stream Amazon from an Echo or another
Amazon device to LMS, but I have no such a device and have therefore
never tested it.

Re: [slim] Sb3 fix help

2020-08-25 Thread bpa

Does it have WLAN card ? If so try using Sb3 after removing WLAn card.

Two most common problems with a Sb3 which seems to have power yet does
work and no display (i) power supply - not enough amps or low voltage
under load and (ii) faulty WLAN card - even if not using wifi.

After these easy to fix issues, faulty caps is the next most likely -
bit harder to fix.
