In theory, a transcoding plugin could do something like this - and I think I saw one being discussed earlier in the year (although I think it was doing room equalisation perhaps). Someone else might remember or have some other trick. The system is a multiroom, raspberry + hifiberry connect to a speaker. The sound come from LMS on raspberry via wifi signal on my second raspberry with his hifiberry.
