router is on, but is it connected to the internet? All my isp's have
taken some time for that to happen. That causes mine to get goofy, pi
comes up quickly. The pcP team can tell you how quick the pi is looking
for the net.

Turning squeezelite off was in the original instruction (pcP 4 I think)
for setting up a server only.

I have the same situation as you, I can turn off then on the pi, no
problem. Power failure - problem, but, I can recover without redoing the
SD. Perhaps just try to put your LMS data on a thumd drive of 3rd
partition? pcP 6 setup has an option (it says not recommended) to create
the 3rd partition at the same time as expanding the files system

No it is only with powerfailure, and indeed my router is back on.
squeezelite is on indeed always..never undone that before. uhmm

then, one other thought. The power cut, is it intentional (turn off pi)?
Or, is it a utility power failure? I ask because I am wondering if it is
a situation where the pi comes on line, looking for internet access, but
the isp/modem is not rebooted. My modem takes forever (maybe 5 minutes).
With my system, when this happens, time gets messed up (touch time
screen saver goes black, radio and boom display the wrong time).

As suggested by paul- (and others) earlier on this thread, you could try
putting your LMS data on a external thumb drive, or a 3rd partition on
the SD (I do this).

Final thought, if it is a utility interruption, perhaps something
happens with the incoming power (transient, or something?) are other
devices affected? Can you replicate the "crash" with, say devices
plugged into a power strip?

I am running pcP's as LMS only, both locations have touches, so our
setup is similar. I have frequent power failures at one location, and I
have yet to corrupt a SD card.

Jim

PS - if only using as a server, have you turned squeezelite off? pcP
(pcP control panel -> tweaks->audio tweaks). Not sure that it matters,
but perhaps others can comment.

thanks for your though..
in my case, after power failure I cannot find the pi on the network
anymore. so it does not start. I am really not sure what is happening
indeed.
not quite sure either to put on the cache, being a bit of a newbie
..well not really went deep into picoreplayer and all its
possibilities...using it really only for the server for my logitech
touch.

will try to look more deeper into it

cheers
