Is that a single track playlist? This is just a guess from poking around a bit but I'm thinking in a multiple track playlist, the play command would load the list and start playing from the first entry, the load command would load the list and try to start playing from where you last left off in that playlist. In a single track playlist the result of play and load would be the same. Again, just a guess. sodface's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19057 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114434 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] replay gain recommendations?
Foobar and dBpoweramp are great if you're on Windows. If you're on Linux (or happy to use the Linux subsystem on Windows) and your collection includes a fair amount of classical music, I'd recommend loudgain, which implements the original EBU R128 specification of -23 LUFS. For more information on why some tracks sound quieter than others, even with ReplayGain calculated and enabled during playback, 'these' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?112866-Replay-Gain-how-can-Peak-gt-1-And-how-to-create-headroom-for-Gain-gt-0&p=987234&viewfull=1#post987234) two 'posts' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?112866-Replay-Gain-how-can-Peak-gt-1-And-how-to-create-headroom-for-Gain-gt-0&p=987297&viewfull=1#post987297) from last year (and some of the discussion around them) may be of interest. I ended up rescanning my entire library with loudgain set at -23 LUFS (it's a nice way of stress testing your PC, too...), but for me it has paid off: these days I hardly ever touch the volume control. Hi, from the documentation of the CLI: Code: favorites playlist What should be the difference between "play" and "load"? In both of the following commands the result seems to be the same. The playlist of the player was deleted, the favorite was loaded and the player starts to play. First command: Code: player_id favorites playlist play item_id:e992e4aa.2 Second command: Code: player_id favorites playlist load item_id:e992e4aa.2 I expect that the favorit only was loaded(and not played) when i use the second command. Re: [slim] In ceiling setup with squeezeamp
When we had the kitchen redone I had the builders put in a couple of ceiling speakers and asked them to run some cable in the void and then come out at the back of a shelf and put a double power supply near the shelf. They actually ran spare electricity cable as the speaker cable ... hopefully the next people in the house won't be confused by it! This means that the SquezeAMP in its plastic case is readily available on the shelf - but hidden behind something. In my case, the "something" is a Joggler - which is used as a Squeezebox controller. Prior to the SqueezeAMP it was the Joggler that was the player as well and I plugged its 3.5mm socket into a small amp. I have another Joggler in the room as another controller so that we do not have to move far to control things - oh and there is a real Squeezebox Controller in there as well between 2 chairs so that we do not even have to get up to control things. Of course, it could all be controlled from a phone but this way is generally faster and convenient for all. One change I need to make is to put more audio insulation above one of the speakers because it is easily heard in the room above. [slim] In ceiling setup with squeezeamp
This community has been very helpful for quite some time (I was using squeezeboxen long before logitech appeared) and for that I've been very greatful. We are having some work done in our kitchen, and I'm using this opportunity to put in ceiling mounted speakers. It is behind a wall from the main setup so sound gets lost from the main system, particularly with the sounds of food preparation. The goal is not high fidelity, but the chance to listen to music, news, podcasts, etc. while using the kitchen. Quick on and off would facilitate use. Current plans that I would like to bounce off the assembled wisdom here would be to use a squeezeamp to drive two Polk RCi 80's ceiling speakers. Currently this is powered by an older laptop 16v power supply So the questions I have surround how this should be installed? 1) What is the best way to power the squeezeamp? 2) should the squeezeamp and/or power supply be enclosed somehow? 3) I am planing on using an iphone with a material skin to control this one (of probably 6 squeeze devices). Are there any alternatives (in wall panel, etc.) that I should be considering Alternately, are there good sites that make this simple? Most of what I find through google assume a large home theater setup. My goal is much more minimalist. Re: [slim] Setting Up LMS On A Raspberry Pi 4B
Great news. Enjoy. Two reminders. Because you're running LMS, you need to do an "orderly" shutdown if you turn off the rPi (and keep in mind that I keep mine on 24/7 for months at a time, but sometimes want to shut down, remove the USB drive, and do some updating (because I don't use SAMBA). To do a proper shutdown, on the main piCorePlayer page, click the shutdown button. When you are ready to restart rPi simply apply power to the rPi to cause it to bootup (if you never unplugged it, simply remove and reattach the powercord. See picture. 34314 Second, to make sure that LMS automatically starts when you reboot the rPi, make sure you've set that option on the LMS tab. One thing I would recommend moving forward is to read and participate in this forum, and play around in the pCP, LMS UI and Settings, to not only learn what is going on "under the hood" but to learn what alot of cool things others are doing Sorry to hear about your audio woes. I just solved a "subwoofer problem" that I am embarrassed to admit I sort of lived with for a year. I have a small system - touch, arcam amp, Klipsch bookshelf speakers in our cabin that I decided to add a tiny sub to. I had to hook it up via speaker wires. It just didn't sound right. I had to turn it's gain up quite high, then occasionally a bass note or two would boom. I thought placement, but I really wanted to keep it in a spot that I figured was less ideal, as it's really just background listening here. I also have alot of reno going on here, so moved on. Then, this year, I was messing around with the wiring (added a dac, the ever growing "small system"), I unplugged one of the two speaker leads from the amp to the sub and the sub came alive! I knew immediately what I had done. One of the channels was hooked up out of phase. So, when the base notes were present on both channels, the sub amp through integrating them, essentially was cancelling them. The occasional notes that would "boom" had to be present only on one channel. I felt both ecstatic and sick at the same time. The system now sounds wonderful, better than I had hoped when I bought the sub, and added the dac. I am super pleased, but still think about the lost year (essentially last spring, summer fall :o ). so, check your hookup :) and the setting in your receiver. Re: [slim] Setting Up LMS On A Raspberry Pi 4B
Congratulations! Do a backup. It's not clear to me, "How and what did you format?" I've made a lot of piCorePlayer SD cards (100's) and only once have I had to do a low level format to fix a corrupted SD card, never had to format any partitions. I do occasionally format an additional third partition on the SD card but assume you are not up to that yet. AFAIK, all the SD image creation tools are bit to bit copiers and will overwrite anything on the SD card, "formatting is futile". Is there something special to do for very large SD cards? I only use <= 32 GB SD cards.
