Re: [slim] Help! Trying to buy a SB Receiver in NZ
I bought my Duet locally via the company i work for in Auckland (product is a small part of our quite large business but does mean we utilise the local distributors) - I'll ask our product people if we can get the Receiver - quite probably not, but can't hurt asking. -- Apteryx Apteryx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70141 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Controller: first impressions/ experience
Mine arrived in NZ last week with the same pretty old r1425 firmware. Cannot find my Wireless network which works for any number of pc's, laptops, squeezeboxen, n800 etc. Had to upgrade firmware via SD - wouldn't recognise one of my two cards, but finally got that done. Still doesn't recognize my network, or more specifically the password (sees the network). Given up for now - will bash my head against it again when I've finished pulling my fingernails out. -- Apteryx Apteryx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47755 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

H - according to my procurement person - Unfortunately the ETA has been delayed to end of May. Ive checked with another supplier and they said their container is arriving this week hence you can expect delivery by next. Not quite Australia, but I've ordered mine directly from the local NZ distributor and their ETA is 7th April. Re: [slim] When will the Duet be available for purchase in Australia
That's true of NZ as well - they operate via a distributor and the listed price of $699 from Logitech is just the RRP - retailers would presumably arrive at their own price, when they can get the product. (The buy price from the distributor allows a good deal of room for them to manoeuvre if they want to). Hope we don't get caught by the same testing issues! -- Apteryx Apteryx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45677 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Australians being screwed on price??
I discovered via my work, I can legitimately purchase the Duet from the local distributor and that will save me more than NZD230 off the $699 RRP here - it's pretty clear where the margin is going... Re: [slim] Possible to pre order the Duet with an Euopean power supply?
The online site says Orders include the appropriate power adaptor for the destination country. If you'd like to substitute a different power supply, or have another message for our sales team, please make a note here. - Something of a contradiction given Jim's response. (Not that this matters to sops like us who can't buy from that site and instead have the -opportunity- to pay about USD560 sourcing it from Logitech locally - well you might, but like Aus we still only have Notify Me as our buying option anyway) -- Apteryx Apteryx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=44115 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Slimserver loosing contact with Squeezebox 3
Sure it's not something simple like an IP address clash? - After having an SB2 serviced, I managed to misread my configs and give two SB2's the same fixed address - they would work perfectly for a few minutes then fall off the network, reconnect, work, fall of the network etc - I wasted quite some time looking for something more complicated! (The SB's never complained - they just fell off the network) -- Apteryx Apteryx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=37475 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Why I want a stand-alone, slim, Slim Server!
Linux - Really, It's not that hard to do - I knew/know zero about Linux but downloaded enough info to manage to fudge my way through building a headless Fedora server for SS - a then 3-4 year old HP small form factor, floppy drive removed in favour of a second hard disk, samba running so I can use a a windows-based script to update the music collection on to it from my working windows PC, small UPS, webmin and VNC for admin... (dual boot with windows, music on a separate partition so I could run it as a windows box if Linux defeated me - I've never ever needed it). Three years later, apart from an upgrade to FC5, I don't touch it, it never fails and is comfortably responsive on a reasonable, but not huge db (7k). Total cost, about $200 of your money, best part of 3 years later. -- Apteryx Apteryx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=36385 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: Synchronize PC Playback w/ Squeezebox?
One way would be to use SoftSqueeze on the SlimServer - it is basically a java virtual Squeezebox which you can synch with physical squeezeboxes. Works for me most of the time. I'm sure there will be more sophisticated/complicated methods as well. -- Apteryx Apteryx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=18478 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: Music Library Sync files
I'm too lazy to bother with robocopy or similar - I found a windows synching utility somewhere (will track down its name when I'm there) - it runs a scheduled job to find and synch changes and new content from the ripping machine (winXP) to the media server (FC3). The ripping machine is also where I tidy tags etc and is also the source for synching my Ipod and Phatbox (in-car system). Probably effectively the same as Robo..., but nice easy interface -- Apteryx ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
