Should be fairly easy to implement, if SN is only used to establish
contact between the SB and SC. Everything else can then be handled
directly between the two.

I don't understand the confusion what so ever. Really read up a bit and
it all makes sense. Get over it.

A lot of users are baffled by SqueezeCenter / SqueezeNetwork. You won't
believe how many calls we get from users who cannot find their local
music to play. And of course it turns out their SB is connected to SN.

It's also hard to explain to users why a SB cannot just be connected to
both. Or why it doesn't switch automatically, depending on what you want
to play or what is available.

And then there is the ever continueing confusion about the PIN number.
The instructions tell me I should register with a PIN number. I've
looked everywhere in the manual but I can't find it anywhere. And when I
use the number on the back of the SB (00:04:20...) it's not accepted.

It will be hard to support a mass market media streaming eco-system on
11g, as the bandwidth is getting to crowded and home users don't usually
do site surveys. A major source of performance complaints in these
 forums are basic connectivity issues.

Sonos has a proprietary mesh-flavored approach to solving this, if I
understand correctly. Draft 802.11n in the 5GHz UN-II bands is probably
the nearest we have to a real solution, but none of the SD products
supports that, yet. Take a look at the range extension you can get from
.11n these days and apply that at 5GHz and you have given yourself scope
to provide really reliable wireless streaming.

My main point is that growth is not possible without reliable and
plentiful wireless bandwidth with a decent shot at whole house coverage.

I would love support for the N wireless standard. Not that the SB
itself needs it, but I'm using the SB as a wireless bridge for an old
XBOX running XBMC, and I use that to stream movies to my TV.

I noticed that attaching pictures to a post do not seem to work:
SN-alarms-disappear.JPG:
This is not a valid image file.
SN-alarms-disappear.PNG:
This is not a valid image file.

These definitely ARE valid image files.

Last weekend and last week I tried from two different places to upload
an Avatar, and it gave me an incorrect file error each time. Again,
tried with different filetypes, different resolutions, within
requirements.

Re: [slim] Can I use a SB receiver as a wireless bridge?

2009-04-28 Thread BastiaanR

As mentioned earlier, using the SBR as a Wireless Bridge is not
supported. Unlike the previous SB's, where it is supoprted.

With the use of Net::UDAP you can still get it to work.

But.. why is it not supported in the SBR? I'm just curious.

And is a feature request worthwhile, or is this something that will
never be implemented?

2009-04-16 Thread BastiaanR

What would you LIKE to see in a new SD product?

Me, I would like a mix between the WD TV, SqueezeCenter, and a few
download P2P clients.

Re: [slim] Can't get Duet receiver to use ethernet

2009-04-10 Thread BastiaanR

(From memory, as I do not have a Controller near)

On the Controller:
 Settings Advanced Factory Reset Continue

Once the Controller has been reset, go through the normal Setup. At one
point you will be asked to choose between Ethernet and Wireless.

Re: [slim] 'Local' Internet Radio location

2009-04-06 Thread BastiaanR

Your location is guessed according to your Internet IP.

You can set it manually by creating a RadioTime account, setting your
location there, and then entering your RadioTime account details into
SqueezeCenter.
