Get the file path to the file / folder / directory of interest In the Web Interface Paste this into the Internet Radio - Tune In URL Field Click on the play (Tune in) or Add Buttons See your desired files queued up or played using the file reference , rather than a stream URL. Result. For Bonus Points, work out the request / command sent to LMS generated by this interaction, then embed it in a shell extension, so you could play the file directly from the file system (in much the same way as the foobar2000 Shell / File Explorer Context Menu additions) - Or have an app you could drag and drop the file onto to play them, or whatever Operating system dependent mechanism works for you. Re: [slim] Simple question? How to download and album and listen to it right away?
As posted above, if your new music resides in/under your Music Folder then Just use Browse Music Folder and, well, browse to the folder the music is in. As a side effect, this adds the music to the music library. If, however, your new music does not reside in/under your music folder, or you only want to listen to something, without adding it to you music library e.g. podcast, something on a visiting usb stick etc, Then you can use the Tune In URL feature from the web interface to point to a file or folder, and use the Tune In or Add buttons as appropriate. This has been mentioned previously http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42835 http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41470 and probably elsewhere. What would be really neat, is if someone could come up with a shell extension, so this capability is available directly in the file explorer context menu - similar to foobar2000s play in, enqueue in foobar2000 options (Note: I understand some of this is windows specific, but I the approach is general) -- Grahame Grahame's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1200 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70869 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Not to mention you can now pick up the 770, for less than the price drop of the iPhone. [slim] Re: SBM (Squeezebox Mobile)?
I can confirm the included audio player on the Nokia 770 can handle streaming MP3's from slimserver over its built in 802.11g WiFi. (Slimserver transcodes from stored flacs to mp3 in my case - slimserver allows you to set the bitrate the mp3's are streamed at; 320Kps sounds very acceptable :) ) It's built in browser - together with the handheld skin make it a very nice (albeit expensive) remote control. Issues for the real world, are secure remote access to your slimserver, and latency / bandwidth issues for access. The open nature / features of the slimserver platform make things like this possible. The 770 at the moment doesn't have a Java VM - so no softsqueeze, although given the open/documented protocol, it may be possible to write a native squeeze client for the 770 using the maemo SDK. The question is, what would it give you, over the capabilities of audio playback, controlled by a web interface via the 770's small form factor - but high-ish (800x480) resolution touch screen? I ought to upload a screen capture util so you can see for yourself. -- Grahame Grahame's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1200 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=18998 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
