[slim] Re: 6.5.0 is OK except for....
I'm having problems with albums not listing tracks in the correct order (but not all albums do this). I have a folder called Music.flac which contains artist/album/tracks folders. This worked OK under 6.3.1, but is non-browsable under 6.5.0 - it thinks Music.flac is a track. I get spurious freezes of the track title/progress on any player (SB2 & softsqueeze 3.0). I have also suffered freezes of the player menu - scrolls up or down or left or right but then stops for about 10-20 seconds every 10 or so steps before continuing again with some of the key presses whilst frozen buffered up to be actioned when it un-freezes. All on Slimserver 6.5.0 under W2003 SBS. [slim] Track progress not updating in 6.5
Hi, Sorry to say I've got a further issue. When playing tracks the progress bar on the player (SB2 or SoftSqueeze 3) will not always keep track with the playback progress - last night I played an album and once track 1 reached about 95% the display stayed static (progress and track details) for the rest of the album. The VU bars did update though. Win2003 SP1. I'd like to see: - > Playlists per device > Improvements in list management (drag & drop would be nice if it can be implemented cross-platform) > Speed improvements in the web interface (6.5 seems to be slower here) > Consistent use of tags for displaying song / album information, perhaps a configured fallback of using less favoured methods if the better method isn't available. > Option to use FLAC over MP3 if same track name in same folder (perhaps configurable filetype preferences) Cheers, Grahame. -- GrahameP GrahameP's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=26874 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Jumbled album tracks in 6.5
Hi, Downloaded and installed 6.5 today as a full replacement for 6.3.1 (zipped & deleted), where everything had been working well (Win2003 SP1 server). I've looked back through recent postings and can't see some of my issues listed anywhere, so here goes: - I've rescanned my albums and I have a number of issues with the browse features (at least via the web interface (Fishbone), not tested fully via SB2). I select an album by clicking on its name in the browse list and it shows the tracks, but always not in track order. Most tracks usually in the right order with many displaced. The Beatles - '1' shows 27 then 1 -26 (although it sometimes shows as a smaller collection of other albums intead). Blur - '13' shows all tracks in the correct order, Eric Clapton - '461 Ocean Boulevard' the tracks are all over the place. I've rescanned (clear & scan) several times and can't get this to come right. In the albums list many albums are shown more that once - mostly multi-disc sets, but sometimes single albums. There are tracks missing from one version that appear in the other version, as if merging the two would make the complete album. One 3 disc album has 6 entries in the album list. These are set in the tags as Disc 1 of 3, etc. My collection is mainly MP3Pro, but I've started to convert from CD to FLAC as well. These go into H:\Music.flac\Artist\Album, whereas the MP3s go into H:\Artist\Album. I used to be able to browse the FLAC music, but now I can't - it tries to interpret the Music.flac folder as a FLAC file and won't open it further. I can probably get round this by renaming the folder, but I didn't have to before. -- GrahameP GrahameP's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27936 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Prioritising file types
Hi, I was wondering if there was a method for prioritising FLAC files over MP3s? It would be useful when scanning and two tracks of the same name exist in a folder it would only add the FLAC version to the database and ignore the MP3. I've got most of my music in MP3Pro format, but I'm gradually adding FLAC versions as well. I need to retain the MP3s for iPod, car CD and other media player compatibility, but would prefer slimserver to ignore them if a better file exists in the same folder. [slim] Re: WPA2 & Linksys WRT54GS V4
Hi Mark, My last posting was sent before I saw your last reply. I've just tried WPA-TKIP on the router and WPA Personal on the SB2 and it works fine now, so I've been able to upgrade the security on the wireless network at last. Thanks for your help. [slim] Re: WPA2 & Linksys WRT54GS V4
Hi, More info: - Using WEP128 each end & DHCP - all connects OK Using WPA2 Personal - AES on router, WPA2 Personal on SB2 & DHCP - connects to network but gets a 169. address (should be 192.168.) and fails to connect to slimserver. Using WPA2 Personal - AES on router, WPA2 Personal on SB2 & fixed (192.168.) address - connects to network and fails to connect to slimserver. Using WPA2 Personal - TKIP+AES on router, WPA2 Personal on SB2 & fixed (192.168.) address - fails to connect to network. Hope this is useful. Cheers, Grahame. I tried both TKIP and AES, but got the same response from the SB2 with both of them. I am using a mainly Windows network (XP SP2, PocketPC2003 & 2003 SBS), so the authentication solution needs to work in this environment (the server is not on the wireless side of the network, so I suppose it doesn't count). [slim] Playlist position
Hi, I've started using SoftSqueeze (2.3) alongside my SB2 and came across a shortcoming of the system that I wasn't aware of. I'm on SlimServer 6.2.1 and I have a few playlists. If I listen to a playlist and switch off or change to another music source or playlist, when I return to the original playlist at a later date it remembers where I was and carries on from there. I had assumed that it kept track by player, but running SoftSqueeze and selecting the same playlist also starts from the last position reached on the SB2. Would it be possible to keep player-related positions for playlists? Cheers, Grahame. -- GrahameP GrahameP's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19908 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] WPA2 & Linksys WRT54GS V4
Hi, I've just had to replace my router due to a failure of the old Linksys WRT54G, and I now have a brand new WRT54GS V4. I would have liked more time to investigate and select the best router and to have avoided PC World, but it was Sunday and I'd lost the internet, etc, etc. When I had the old WRT54G (v1.0) I tried changing the wireless from WEP 128-bit to WPA, but couldn't make it work with my Squeezebox 2. I've tried again with the new router, and I get the same results. I can configure the SB2 to use WPA2 Personal and set the shared key, but although it sees the network, it fails to connect. After a couple of hours of trying different options in the router setup I gave up and went back to WEP 128-bit and all is well. Does anyone have this working correctly, and if so, how? By the way, both routers are on the supplied Linksys firmware. [slim] CDs with 'hidden' tracks - suggestion
Hi, Only got my SB2 this week, but very impressed so far. One option I would like to see (if feasible) is the ability to skip over more than 10 seconds (configurable) of silence in a track to remove the huge amounts of silence used to 'hide' an extra song at the end of the last track in many albums. The idea would be that if during the track there was a period of silence exceeding the configured limit then the server would scan forward to the next non-silence portion of the track and stream from there, or the next track if nothing found. Cheers, Grahame. -- GrahameP ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
