Seems to work for me in Newcastle, using LMS. I can't confirm
squeezenetwork though.

The list I get under Internet Radio / Local / Newcastle is pasted
below, includes most local stations.

Mind you 'Tune in' is the search box?

[slim] 5 year old Squeezebox2: working but silent

2010-08-25 Thread JJP

Hi, would appreciate any thoughts on whether I should consign my 5 year
old SB2 to the scrapheap. This little unit's had a *lot* of use.

No recent changes to my system, but turned it on one day to discover it
was silent.

Boots up fine and logs onto to my local squeezebox server. Loading any
internet radio seems to work ok, buffers up fine, the current track name
on Radioparadise shows up but the audio level screensaver stays static
at about 3bars leftright there's no sound output.

Playing tunes off my local library has the same effect: level bars are
static, squeezecenter shows that the track is being played ok (ie the
track time advances).

The rest of my players (4 SB2s 3 booms) are working fine.

Running squeezebox server 7.5.1 - r30836. XP Pro.
Same problem if logged onto mysqueezebox.com
Hard reset of the player has no effect.
Have ensured it's not synced to any other players.
No router probs as I say, the unit can access the internet.
No obvious probs on the player audio settings in SBServer settings.
Router/server powercycles of no help.
Amp works fine with another unit.
Pressing holding '3' on SB powercycle (which I thought was supposed
to give a test tone) just goes straight to 'Set Up Networking')

I'd normally suspect a router / firewall problem but the fact the rest
of the players are fine suggests otherwise.

Should I stick it in the freezer for a few hours??
Or move to a Touch..

Best I can offer is trying a Xilinx reset (SB3 instructions, I presume
 it will work for SB2):
Unplug power, press and hold down the one (1) button on the remote,
plug power back in (whilst continuing to hold down the one button) 1 =
 Xilinx

Might check different audio outs as well, but if your bars are flat
then different audio outs are likely not a cure. :(

THANKS Toby. sorted.

Thought I'd tried pressing holding '1' before but I think I bottled
it powered off when it said 'reprogramming'. I just needed to wait a
few more seconds.

So, no excuse to buy a Touch.. ?

prolonged number presses for all 9 digits.

I've been unable to map 'press and hold a number' to any of the 'soft'
button on the touchscreen. The Harmony One seems to eventually accept a
'continuous number press' in Learning Mode but, on replay, my SB2
doesn't respond at all.

My desire for this is so that other users of my media system can just
press a button marked 'radioparadise' or 'radio 4' rather than having to
be told which number button to press hold for diffent favourites.

I can't see that there are discrete IR commands in the SB IR codeset
for 'play favourite [x]'. Does anyone know hex code equivalents for
'press hold [x]' which I can copy paste into the Harmony setup for
favourites 1-9? (?can the Harmony take such codes?)

Thanks in advance.

Re: [slim] Improved Squeezebox config availible for Harmony users.

2009-09-26 Thread JJP

Have just added a Harmony One to our cinema room. The basic codes work
well with a SB2.

How can I map the Squeezecenter Favourites to the additional buttons
(the touchscreen)? Favourites 1-9 are presently shortcuts to streaming
URLs.

What I'm looking for is just a button with the radiostation name (or
graphic), eg BBC Radio 4 which triggers a certain SC favourite (eg
no.4) and would emulate 'press and hold 4' on the SB remote)

If there's no easy solution, I guess I can teach the harmony to learn
prolonged number presses for all 9 digits.

oh well. TBH it was the less patient SB users (not too far away from me)
who were getting annoyed by the 2 second wait.

That's not quite true when using a wireless connection - you end up
with about 10 FWD presses.

The Squeezebox is intended to be an always-on device. In fact, the
blank screensaver is a recent addition as it usually uses a clock

As funkstar said, you lose ecological brownie points if you're out all
day.

Looks like I should hoist a (minor!) bug / enhancement request.
Perhaps not so minor - I have a guest who ended up changing my WPA
key.

On the rare occasions that I remove power from my SB2, I also get the
invitation to set up networking when it is re-powered. But if you just
ignore it and do nothing, it then reconnects by itself after a few
seconds. (This is with a wired SB, by the way - I don't know if a
 wireless one will behave differently).

Wired wireless do the same on power-on. My house is off-grid a
SB2 in standby eats about 6watts so they mostly stay off.

[slim] To begin setup press the right button.. no thanks

2006-03-31 Thread JJP

Is there anyway I can stop this coming up when turning on a squeezebox?

It can be too easy to end up in the network setup pages through
impatience / twitchy fingertips..

Ideally i'd like a player setting for 'do not offer network setup on
startup (unless connection fails)'

Or is this feature there already i'm just being blind?

Color me confused, but I never see this message and I turn my SB on and
 off
 a dozen times each day.

Are you talking about physically severing the power connection or using
 an
external power switch to control the SB?

 Ben

Yes - I turn my units on/off at the power source.

me too..using AlienBBC. the white noise repeated every 3mins or so.

I set a debug going which captured nothing of note as far as I can

If this happens again, any suggestions as to which debug settings I

[slim] Re: Alien BBC Garbled Sound

2005-07-21 Thread JJP

Same problem here - XP, SB2s running 15/07/05 nightly, mplayer pre7,
alienBBC 0.98.

Garbling sometimes happens within 2-3 minutes of fast-forwarding the
stream which makes BBC unusable. I now have a sore ear due to
complaints from other household squeezebox user(s).

It's annoying (makes me angry!) that the BBC still insists on using
realplayer for audio when they do appear to have adopted a windows
media format for some video. I pay my licence fee for them to force me
to install some bloated spyware realplayer trash.
