[slim] Two Web Interfaces, One Server?
I've done a quick search and can't find a discussion about this (cue : someone instantly post up a link to the answer :) ) Is it possible to have device specific web interfaces? The handheld and N70 skins are great for mobile devices but are pointless when accessing the SqueezeCenter on my laptop/desktop. -- NeilB NeilB's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2375 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=44470 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Two SB3s, very different wireless rates?
I have two SB3s. Poking around in my Apple Airport admin utility I noticed a Wireless Clients list that I hadn't seen before (I've only recently bought it). From the MAC addresses I deciphered which of the clients were my two SB3s. Here's the typical readings from the columns; (SB3 1) Signal -55 Noise -88 Rate 54 (SB3 2) Signal -70 Noise -88 Rate fluctuates between 8 and 12 Now the second SB3 is one floor up from the first one in the house (we're on 3 floors, router being on the ground) but that's a big drop off in rate isn't it? I'm just about to physically swap them over and see what happens but I thought I'd post here to see if anyone had an explanation? -- NeilB NeilB's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2375 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=36697 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Two SB3s, very different wireless rates?
Well, I answered my own question there. Moved the SB3 from the top floor to the middle floor and the rate is changed to a steady 54. [slim] Airport Extreme and WEP - SB wrongly detects WPA2
I've just upgraded my wireless router to a new Airport Extreme and, well, as per the title really. When configuring the networking, SB3 discovers the base station OK but incorrectly determines the password required in WPA2 form, whereas in fact the base station has a WEP password. I think this is a symptom of when I originally setup the base station and I used WPA2 but had to change it to WEP as one of my devices couldn't connect with WPA2 (yes, I know, I'd rather have WPA2 but currently that one rogue device doesn't allow it). I've tried factory-reseting the SB but to no avail. Is there no way to manually select the type of encryption? -- NeilB NeilB's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2375 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=36554 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Anoop M.;212262 Wrote: What is your SSID? Are you sure you are connected to the right network? The SB3 will only detect what you have, also double check your encryption. It picks up the correct SSID and network, it just thinks I'm using WPA2 for some reason when I'm not. Entering the password key (that works on my laptops and other computers) causes SB to eventually (counts down to 0 when trying to establish communication) throw up an error that reads; Problem : Wireless encryption failure -- NeilB NeilB's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2375 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=36554 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Anoop M.;212275 Wrote: Have you tried to power cycle your router? Is there upgraded firmware for your router? Try changing the routers encryption to something else and see if the SB3 will connect then. Keep in mind to always do a factory reset on the SB3 to keep a common ground while testing. Several time and it's bang up-to-date firmware-wise. The SB will connect if I have the base-station encryption set to WPA2, but I've had to change it to WEP and the SB doesn't recognize the change. What is wierd though is I *know* I've seen the network setup sequence display a list of different encryptions for you to select but for the life of me I don't know how or why it was there and, more importantly, why I can't get it back on? -- NeilB NeilB's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2375 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=36554 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Airport Extreme and WEP - SB wrongly detects WPA2
Cool, I'll give that a try. I did manage to reveal the encryption selection page which has a side effect that allowed me to get it working. 1 - Select Enter network name 2 - The last network you connected to will be displayed. Change it (first character will do) so that the name is incorrect and then press the right arrow to go to the next page. 3 - You'll then be able to chose from 5 different encryption types. I selected WEP 128 bit, then on the key entry page I pressed the left arrow to go back to the network selection. 4 - Select Enter network name and then fix the network name you previously altered. 5 - The next page then says Enter WEP key 6 - Enter the key and it works. I don't know why it works but it does. However, I think I'll follow the procedure in that bug as it seems more solid :) Thanks -- NeilB NeilB's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2375 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=36554 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Re: Duplicate Albums
After having some duplicate album issues myself, I think I finally found out what was causing them. Somehow, some of the tracks had V1 and V2 tags. Removing the V1 tags solved the problem. I used a program called Dr Tag to do it - I did try to do the same with MP3Tag but for some reason it didn't properly delete them. -- NeilB NeilB's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2375 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27746 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Re: FairPlay News - a way forward?
Sorry guys, should've clarified the post with some reason for it's existence. I realise that the news story says he's able to license the tech to enable non-Apple devices to play DRM files but I read that as a bit of a smoke screen, with the fact that he's cracked the DRM being the *actual* news story, for interested parties who, like many here, want to play ITMS songs on their SqBoxes.
