The used unit with transnav is no longer available. I would sell for $300 each but not including shipping. as far as EBay goes, I am seeing them sell for $400+ and Audiogon for the same. Albeit with additional fees. The transporter run with Roon through a decent system is still a fantastic sounding DAC and can even run DSD. I would put it up against some of the $5000 DACs for warmth of sound. 2 new in the box without trans Nav knob, 1 used with knob. Figured best place to find others that enjoy them would be here 😉 Taking reasonable offers, please dont bother if you are looking for Lowball deals. Re: [slim] A rant towards a rescue. Needed. NOW. ... From here to where?
Being everything to eveyone is not possible! Trying to do so will be the end of the products. trying to be a solid reliable product is possible IF there is a defined goal. I for one like the fact that SB is open source. I also understand that at times this will lead to issues that make some customers unhappy. A price we pay for the ability to have a voice through these forums that leads to new ways to manage and listen to our music. I may be Joe six-pak but I love my Transporter and I have little to complain about (outside of the lack of 12vdc trigger... sorry had to have my dig) This thing rocks!!! I listen to it every day and my friends are amazed by it. Is it perfect? NO! is it a work in progress? God I hope it always is beause it is impossible to be perfect for more than a second in time. We as a community will always ask for more. I hope that this product continues to mature and evolve as we find more and better ways to take advantage of it. -- Ozz 2 Channel listening Room: Transporter, Arcam C31 and Arcam P1 Mono Blocks feeding ATC SCM19s Cable and interconnects are both Kimber. Re: [slim] Love My Squeezebox! What's The Equivalent For Video?
They dropped the price of the PS3 to $299US and PMS (PS3mediaserver) is free. I find it works pretty good IF you rip your content in acceptable formats. PMS will transcode on the fly, you need to have a decent server to do a good job but now days that is not hard to come by. I use the same server to run SqueezeCenter and PMS and they seem to work fine together. If you are going to stream 1080P movies you need to run it wired at 1GB and not wireless. I have 40 movies ripped in .mkv files along with MPeg4 files. It works great and looks good. It also streams FLAC and transcodes it albeit not as well as my Transporter, but it does support DTS and other 5.1/6.1/7.1 audio streams. It is early in the development phase but at this point I could not be happier for the cost. -- Ozz 2 Channel listening Room: Transporter, Arcam C31 and Arcam P1 Mono Blocks feeding ATC SCM19s Cable and interconnects are both Kimber. Re: [slim] Another successful implementation!
Great to hear your success. I was really perplexed when I got my Trnasporter because I was expecting it to be a pain to setup after reading reviews everywhere. I already had SC running on a media server and had the TP running in all of 3 minutes. I think the majority of complaints come from people that have little PC network knowledge and expect to run wirless with a $50 wireless router and 5 wirless phones running in the house to work well. I just completed a new house and ran ethernet everywhere so I was able to connect wired at 1GB and I have had zero issues with any of the features. The sound is fantastic and there is enough wiz bang tecnology being developed for the platform to keep me playing with it for a long time. As for the spouse she loves it. I pulled the pre-amp out of play and there is one less thing for here to look at or be confused by so Logitech gets the good housekeeping seal of approval from the Ladies of the house. -- Ozz 2 Channel listening Room: Transporter, Arcam C31 and Arcam P1 Mono Blocks feeding ATC SCM19s Cable and interconnects are both Kimber. Re: [slim] User Interface via a PC?
I use the Ipeng app just fine but my spouse and others seem to consider it to small. Yes I know you can make the txt bigger but I was looking for something like moose offers with cover art and drag and drop playlist. I find the SC software very basic. Keep in mind most people expect to see a Itunes like setup... click click click. (BTW I hate Itunes but I do not have the only vote). I am having issues getting Moose to scan the library I am working on that. Yes I know the FW can be an issue so both sides are turned off until I get it working properly (work in progress). I am just like everyone else... Looking for the Perfect UI for my enviroment. -- Ozz 2 Channel listening Room: Transporter, Arcam C31 and Arcam P1 Mono Blocks feeding ATC SCM19s Cable and interconnects are both Kimber. Anything more stable out there than Moose? [slim] User Interface via a PC?
I have the Ipeng app (love it) but while cool it is a bit small for older eyes (argh) I have a Mini Laptop (Acer Aspire one) with a 10" screen and full functionality of a wireless PC. I am really looking for something that will look and perform like Ipeng on the PC. sorry Squeez-Folks but your user interface is lacking ergonomic usefulness. Small text clumbsy controls etc. Not bagging on you as your product exceeds my wildest hopes for a Ethernet DAC. (I love my Transporter). But in a 2 channel listening room with many thousands of dollards spent on equipment. I would love to see Ipeng like features on a mini laptop for control. It is much nicer than passing around my Iphone when people want to look through the music and or control the Transporter. Does anyone know if there is a better desktop app to control SC?
