Re: [slim] Wireless Access Point / Router Compatability - Duet update plse !

2008-10-22 Thread PeterDB

Forgot to add my current:

My ISP is Swisscom (I am based in Switzerland) and they provided my
with my modem/router for my VDSL connection.

The modem/router is a Netopia Netopia 7347-84 (fw. 7.8.0r5) and so far,
what is currently connected to it is:

Wired:
- BluewinTV Plus (digital HD TV over the Internet)
- One Squeezebox Classic
- One Duet Receiver
- Two desktop computers (one always downloading torrents)
- 1TB NAS
(- Switch)

Wireless:
- Two Duet Controllers
- One Duet Receiver
- Two Squeezebox Classic's
- One Squeezebox Boom
- Girlfriends laptop, almost always streaming Dutch online tv.
- iPhone (with me surfing on the couch)
- On and off my work laptop.

And I have no issues at all...

Re: [slim] Wireless Access Point / Router Compatability - Duet update plse !

2008-10-22 Thread PeterDB

I have tried two D-Link DI-524UP, both have work fine on Ethernet, but
the wireless part of the router, works terrible. I get bad and
inconsistent range issues, drop, random disconnections, and various
other issues. Also not only with my SB Classics, Duets, and Boom, but
also with other wireless devices.

What is "a lot of battery power"? How much time can you now use the
remote without having to charge again?

Re: [slim] Squeeze controller losing network connection

2008-04-26 Thread PeterDB

Hi,

I have been through the same as most here, i.e. loose connective or
just poor reception in general. I have been running the latest nightly
builds for quite some time, but it never really seems to get that much
better.

As any other wireless device in our household has not issues, I thought
it was the Controller, since my Receiver is connected wired and the
Controller is connected in wireless mode, not bridged (ie. Controller
is connected to the modem/router wireless and the Receiver wired).

I opened up the Controller, and saw that the antenna was really small.
So, I modded it - very amateur mod, no less - to make it longer and
this really improved my connectivity and the Controllers
responsiveness.

I think she spent as much time making the gif as I listed to the player

Re: [slim] Announcement: a new PSP skin

2007-11-03 Thread PeterDB

Hi,

There seems to be some kinks with the skin when used with
SqueezeCenter, fx. the SqueezeCenter Settings and Player Settngs pages
just come up as "404 page not found"

Re: [slim] Questions

2007-10-13 Thread PeterDB

Hi Michael,

As with regards to SQN, I wanted to log onto it, since - like you - I
hadn't noticed that features were now in SC, until now that is... I am
to used to SS I guess

For the settings... hmmm.. my perl is already rusty as it is... studied
advanced application development back in the day, but haven't written a
line of code or script in more than 5 years, just started to move in a
different direction at work and at home... ;)

Well, where are player settings stored? If in the prefs file, i guess,
I could just copy them around

btw.. it is was nice to meet you the other day...

[slim] Questions

2007-10-13 Thread PeterDB

Hi,

Following the setup of my second SB3 and very soon my 3rd SB3, I have
run into a few questions.

1. How do I sync the settings between the players? I know, I can sync
the audio, but I would like the interface to be the same also

2. I am running the latest nightly build of SqueezeCenter (as of 13th
October 07), but in the default menu structure pushed to the SB's there
is a no longer an option to connect to SqueezeNetwork. With SlimServer,
it used to be the same option in the "main menu" list.

3. Stupid me, I set the password on SC and two seconds later forgot it.
I got the password removed in the prefs file, but not before I noticed
that my password to SqueezeNetwork and SC was listed in the file
unencrypted.

/Peter

Re: [slim] Musicovery.com can it work on the Squeezebox?

2007-10-09 Thread PeterDB

I do agree that Musicovery could have a wider selection of artists, but
from a personal perspective, their selection fits perfectly into mine.
Although, yes, I might not get my musical spectrum expanded as I would
with Pandora.

I miss Pandora, I would happily go through the hassle of moving to the
US, finding a job, getting a green-card etc etc, just to get a US
credit card to I pay the silly 36 USD for a Pandora account.

But, the likelihood of that happening in the near future, is minimal,
since I already have a job I love.

So until then, I have to find the better services here in Europe.

I just discovered musicovery.com also and it has had some upgrade over
the past months, and I think, that it is actually better than last.fm
