Question: How Do You Control Your Music/Squeezebox?

- SBC (Squeezebox Controller)
- IR Remote Control
- Web UI
- Touch
- Other - Explain

I chose other because I didn't know what you meant by "Touch" as a poll
choice. I use iPeng on Ipod Touch to control a Transporter and two
Booms.
Actually, that's all I use the iPod for.

[slim] How can I choose between one or the other of my two home networks?

2010-05-25 Thread Squeezed_Rotel

I ask this because I use iPeng with my iPod, and it (the iPod) will
automatically pick between either of my two home networks, depending on
where I am in the house, a two story home. I have the Internet router on
the first floor and a WAP on the second floor, both are Linksys products
and each has it's own unique SSID, but both use the same WEP
encryption.
So let's say that I want to move one of my Booms out on the patio
temporarily, and it's out of range of one network, but well within
range of the other network, it may not play because it apparently looks
for the SSID that it used during the initial setup.
I'd like to be able to between one or the other network. Any tips?
TIA

Re: [slim] Using ipod touch as remote control ........

2010-06-24 Thread Squeezed_Rotel

I have the iPod touch with iPeng. I very much prefer it over the
controller. The album art is larger, it's much lighter than the
controller and fits in my pocket easier. I also never got the wheel on
the controller to work in a "one handed" fashion.
I stopped using the controller altogether, and eventually sold it and
receiver (Duet) and got the Transporter. Now my Booms and Transporter
are contolled quite comfortably (one handed) with the iPod.

[slim] AVRO Internet Radio Down?

2011-03-06 Thread Squeezed_Rotel

I listen to 3 or 4 AVRO "stations" all the time. Sunday morning (USA

Today, Sunday morning, I see that most, if not all AVRO offerings are

Looks like a RNW Classic or Radio Swiss Classic morning for me.

Anyone confirm?

I have both iPeng and SqueezePad. IMHO, this new "free" app is a swing
and a miss. The iPeng and SqueezePad apps have far more real value, I
mean really, $10 for quality product vs "free"free of value is more
like it.
My "home" screen is empty save for internet radio and settings. Nothing
from my existing SC instance running on my server.
Maybe someone can tell me if a sync is needed to populate the home
screen.
If it actually did work like a SC web ui, it might be worth a star or

Hi pippin,
I stayed with 7.3.4 because it operates flawlessly, and also because I
have no Touch or Radio that would require 7.5.x.
I also see on this board many SC 7.5.x users that are unhappy or
frustrated by the experience. In my case, I don't think I have anythig
to gain by upgrading.

I am very happy that both your iPeng and Bluegaspode's Squeezepad work
well with SC 7.3.4. Both apps work absolutely great for me. I tried the
new Logitech app...I won't be using it ever again.
I don't beleive either of the third party app developers have anything
to worry about.

Re: [slim] Transporter Problem

2011-11-10 Thread Squeezed_Rotel

And in two years of operation, I have never had to do a reset of any
kind.
I wonder if it could be firmware related. By that I mean that I run the
older SC 7.3.4 and I think firmware 54. Maybe this is a contributing
factor.

BTW, when I say disconnected from mains each night, I mean that it is
shut down via the APC power supply feeding power to it (the
Transporter), so I assume that this is the same as "unplugged" each
night.

I strive to avoid mainstream anything, this to me is the best part of
the Squeeze products to date. Niche market is where I hope Logitech
makes their biggest commitment going forward. I do however understand
that the "business" come first.

current collection of files is small (at the moment). Any and all HP as

Re: [slim] Community Funded Squeezebox Replacement - Would you be interested?

2013-04-28 Thread Squeezed_Rotel

I have ordered, but have not yet received the hardware listed on item #8
of the Community Squeeze FAQ page. My assumption after reading most of
the associated threads that deal with both the yet to be released John
Swenson CSP1/2 as well as the CSOS software, is that upon completion of
the basic Wandboard assembly and installation of the CSOS image as
described on the Quick Start Guide page, it will be able to play
audio?... i.e. I will be able to familiarize myself with and test the
system while I wait for the CSP1/2 to become available?

I made the above assumption when I read the following statement on the
COS Quick Start Page"By default the Wandboard SqueezeBox will be
called SqeezeliteWAND, you should now be able to select this player and
play some tunes!"

If this is correct, may I assume also that the CSP1 and CSP2 are to be
viewed as an audiophile upgrade? Do I understand this correctly?

TIA
John

Ian, your Quick Start Guide instructions are excellent and easy to
follow. One question I have concerning the CSOS browser page is:

The CSOS page seen when one browses to 192.168.1.etc:8080 has a Shutdown
tab. I see that the choices are halt or halt and reboot. To shutdown my
SW board, I chose halt, waited 30 seconds then I removed the dc power
plug from the SW board. Is this the correct/preferred method?

I don't expect to be powering the off the SW board once it's a fully

question came about because I put it away after the first couple of

The Liliput 7" 16:9 LCD Monitor with HDMI input has a native Resolution
of 800x480 and supports up to 1920 x 1080 according to the specs.
Jivelite works very well and I did try all of the skins. I settled on
1920 x 1080. The album art however displayed poorly (pixelated)
regardless of settings. (this same art looks fine on my iPad/iPeng
display btw). I blame the monitor, not Jivelite.

I looked everywhere in the Liliput menu, and found no way to adjuat horz
width or vert height. The joggler skin was wide horizontal but short in
verticle.
None of the skins displayed the cover art with proper resolution (if
that is the correct definition).
The internet radio station art was displayed better than my high rez
album art, of let's say 1200 x 1200 jpg.
I'm not too concerned though, because this SqueezeLiteWand when finished
with the JS CSP2 will be headless and controlled with iPeng.
The Liliput is just a convenient way of trouble shooting my headless
server when for whatever reason I'm unable to RDP into it.
Anyway, it was just a functionality test of the Jivelite features that
are included in this wonderful CSOS!

There already is iTunes/iPod/iPad. Why do we need another product like
that?
Many folks listen to music, some "really listen" to music and you can't
stream flac or other lossless codecs with iThings.
This is and should stay a niche audiophile product imo. I hate all
things mainstream, dumbed down for intake by the mass market. I like the
uniqueness of the current (old now) products and the slight challenges
that come with it. I have learned much about networs, routers, headless
severs, RDP, simply by owning these wonderful SlimDevices. IMHO.

Swamp0.5 that is :)

Any news? And of course I do realize that this board is for the
developers only, but I'm so excited about the CSP1 and 2 release that I
was hoping 0.5 was in test. I look forward to the eventual release of
the CSP 1/2 board with balanced out.

Hello, I have already tested the CSOS Wandboard as per the instructions
on http://www.communitysqueeze.org
I have played it through the audio out using headphones. Now, if I
connect the USB on this Wandboard in it's present build state to a newer
model DAC, like Benchmark D2 or Mytek, will I be able to play a 24/192
file that's on my existing LMS server?

Oh, but the Mytek is currently listed on the CSOS faq page under DACs
that were tested;

"Name: Mytek Digital Stereo192-DSD DAC
Driver: snd-usb-audio
Max Rate: 96k/192k
Class: UAC1/UAC2 (The Mytek Digital has both a USB1.1 and a USB2
connector)
Used by: lintweaker"

Assuming that the driver works, will the wandboard without John Swensons
board pass 192/24 files to the Mytek?

This is good news. Is it as simple as removing my current R4 and
installing a new image, R5 for example, in order to get the above
kernnel and firmware? I have no linux skills.

I have always experienced this behavior using 7.3 through 7.8. My server
is a W7 box that sleeps 24/7, or until a boom or iPad sends a wake up

prevent the "waking up server...connecting...cannot connect..." string

A repeat of the process is of course always successful i.e. no timeout.

2015-03-11 Thread Squeezed_Rotel

Hi pippin, I use iPeng every day and love the app. This morning, since
the update, I can only "+" a favorite to the playlist. I can no longer
"play now" from the favorites menu.
This is a iPhone 4, LMS 7.9 nightly
TIA

No, party mode is off. But does this mean that I _should_ be able to
"play now"?

FWIW, I am running 7.3.4, with the latest SqueezePad and iPeng
versions. No problems thus far.

If this p.c. has a windows O.S., I think that if you go first to
"device manager" and look at "power management" tab for your nic card,
you will then be able to activate WOL.

Any thoughts?

Thank you very much, I would like to try that. But it doesn't appear in

OK, thanks. I did get the "Playlist Manager (v4.0)"
It is checked off in the plugins list. There is no change in playlist
behavior as compared to the default SC type. I see no context menu as
described by the author;
http://www.hergest.demon.co.uk/Music/slim/PlaylistManPlugin.htm

There must be a simple way to take a song from the "Now Playing" section
and add it to an existing playlist.

Now when my wife hears something from the random song list, I'll be able
to add it to "her" playlist :)

Yes, it works perfectly on all of my players, but in iPeng for iPad, I
can see "playlist manager" in song info, but the only context option I
see is +add to end or >play. No option to pick another playlist.

If I tap playlist manager, I see the iPeng home page and "playlist
manager" page says EMPTY
