My SB3's PSU has fractured at the plug, and one of my SB2 PSUs has failed (provides voltage until loaded). Re: [slim] SB2 wireless bridge?
Rather than clutter up my network with even more lashed-together crap, I took the easy route: I upgraded my dhcpd to ISC 4.0.0. Re: [slim] SB2 wireless bridge?
> The SB can only connect to an AP, it can't act as one. Ah. That's a piece of information I didn't have, though it makes sense. I have turned off DHCP and the squeezebox is working ... but not obviously as a bridge. The device I'm bridging to will only do DHCP, so I'll have to do some more experimentation (and scrounging). Does the SB have to be "on" to do the bridging? Re: [slim] SB2 wireless bridge?
Um, ok. That's not how I define bridge in my mind, but that doesn't matter right now :-) I played around some this evening with no joy. It leads me to wonder - is this meant to be a two-way bridge? I'm trying to get access to an ethernet stub that's attached to my squeezebox, which connects to the rest of the net via wireless ... not the other way around. -- cak cak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11641 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55425 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] SB2 wireless bridge?
OK thanks - I'll give that a try... though I would have thought that the bridging doesn't reuse the MAC address (that's why it's a bridge), so it doesn't look like "the same place" ... -- cak cak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11641 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55425 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] SB2 wireless bridge?
I'm trying to set up my SB2 as a wireless bridge. I plug in the device with a crossover cable (and power it up - that's important!). I get the prompt to turn on bridging and do so. It continues to try to join the network .. fine. Then DHCP fails. This is 100% reliable. If I turn bridging off, it works again. [slim] VU *and* buffer fullness?
I just installed a ReadyNAS NV+, and am running SlimServer on it - version 6.5.4 - 12568. I used to be able to set the "display buffer fullness" as a checkbox that was separate from the other display choices (time, VU, spectrum), but this no longer seems to be possible. That's really too bad ... am I missing a trick somewhere? [slim] Big, bright clock while playing?
Here's what I'd like to do: set up a screensaver that shows me the clock in full brightness and full size while playing or idle (but not turned off) but still gives me a two line display when I'm fiddling with the menu. Is there some way to set this up? Re: [slim] DroboShare and SlimServer
Or, asked another way... Storage aside, what's a minimal reasonable config for running slimserver? I don't have a bunch of PCs lying around fallow, so I'm thinking I'd buy a mini-ITX box to do that job. -- cak cak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11641 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42275 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] DroboShare and SlimServer
The Drobo data robot was very attractive when it was announced, but a non-starter for me because I need a NAS. What I really want is a NAS that can run slimserver directly and not choke when I'm using the web-based controller (unlike my NSLU2). They just announced the DroboShare, which is a gigEther connected SMB-only front end to a Drobo. It's a closed box, and won't run applications other than Drobo. I like the Drobo RAID technology better than Infrant's, but I would need to come up with a slimserver box, preferably something that doesn't have rotating parts. I'm not sure that the WRT54 family has what it takes to run an SMB client and SlimServer and the web front end ... they're limited in both RAM and horsepower. Any words of wisdom out there? I know the Drobo is new, but perhaps you've already run slimserver on a WRT box or something similar? Which one?
