It still exists and is being actively developed after 5 years, so I was wondering the same thing. I'd subscribe as soon as it's available. Loads of albums in my favourites list on Spotify are no longer streamable as they remove things from the service. [slim] Intermittent wifi on Squeezebox3 SB3 - options?
I seem to remember reading on here about 5 years ago that the wifi cards on the SB3 cause problems after a while. Mine will now sometimes connect, sometimes not. I can't find the thread about it. Is the problem likely to be the actual card dying? If so can it be replaced? Or is it the connections corroding? I removed it and replaced it in the hope it was a poor connection, but that seemed to make it worse. Is there something that would let me tag a track and then prevent it from being played if the plugin is active or something like that? My kids are very lyrical and learn all the words of songs they hear quite quickly. Google music only lets you download compressed versions later, so while a useful service, it's not a backup. I'm using iBroadcast. It's free and lets you store your stuff in original quality (FLAC in my case) and get it back at the same quality later. They also don't muck about with it with DRM and stuff - it's your stuff, stored. I use it for music in the car via their phone app. Currently not supporting true gapless, but they are working on it I'm told. Premium extras will come later I guess. I've been sending my suggestions to their team via email - they seem pretty keen to get feedback and ideas. Now if someone here could just make a plugin / app that lets you stream from it (apparently their API is open and ready for people to do stuff with) to the LMS, that would be mega. I've just grabbed a couple of Chromecast Audio. No screen, so you need to control from the phone app / PC, but using the 3rd party chromecast bridge plugin (after allowing it through your firewall), you can treat them as squeezebox devices. Only problem is no gapless playback, so DJ mixes and classical music have a slight gap between tracks. However, I believe some people are using Raspberry Pi mini PCs instead and have even found ways of adding screens to them, along with IR. Gah, really struggling here. The Upnp plugin was already enabled. But my LMS does not appear on the list in bubble (although the one on the Joggler does... must mean I have had a power cut recently, because I normally kill that when I start the joggler). So I installed the Chromecast plugin (phillipe), but the Chromecast Audio device does not appear in the list on the plugin page. Ok, my Chromecasts just arrived (at ÂĢ15 a go, it was worth a shot). I plugged one into the same amp as my Squeezebox classic, with a similarly priced cable (3.5m>>2XRCA). I then fired up the same tune in LMS and in Plex (PMS, casting from my phone) and realised immediately that the PMS option is transcoding my FLAC files to something rubbish, sounded awful. I've started using a service called iBroadcast. It offers unlimited free storage of music for streaming to devices, with plans for future premium accounts. No idea what their eventual business model will be, but I asked about possibilities for a plugin for the Squeezebox server and this was the reply: "We're always looking for ways to make our service more usable for our users so we'll definitely look at the Squeezebox server. In the meantime it's worth noting that the calls to our server aren't hidden which means that it's already possible for someone from the community or forum to use those to create an app or plugin like the one you're talking about. If we get enough interest from the forum then we could also look at supporting a native app as well." Note, I don't think their knowledge of LMS is any better than mine!! So, since Google isn't letting us stream from "play music", maybe this might be a good option? Any chance of having a ickstream as an App that is installable via mysqueezebox? I use a Joggler to control my music, but I can't use it to control Tidal because it doesn't appear on the menu. Thanks, but although I've not seen the iPhone app, I've seen the android one and I'm guessing it's nothing like this. This is someone's limited functionality project - not official. It's super fast and stripped back. Not sure why I have never spotted this before, but... awesome. Apart from one thing. I have 2 players. I can only seem to control the one in the bedroom which is not the one I want to remote control. If I turn the one in the bedroom off I can get it to contorl the one in the lounge but as soon as I plug it back in again, I'm back to controlling the bedroom :( I thought perhaps it was picking the first one alphabetically (bedroom vs lounge), so I renamed it "upstairs". No joy. Then I thought perhaps it was picking the first IP, but the lounge is .11 and bedroom is .12 so it wasn't that. [slim] 2 Classics - wireless problem on 1 of them - borked?
Hi all I have 2 SB Classics. One of them connects wirelessly, the other doesn't. All the same settings. So I placed them both in the same spot. On plugging in, the one that works gets 90-93% signal strength. The other fluctuates between 0% and 70%.. (Only have one turned on at at time for this test). Is it knackered? Any advice much appreciated. Hi. Sorry if I'm being slow, but is there a way (standard or plugin) to add a small "current time" to the "now playing" view on the squeezebox? At the moment I'm using currtime in the track title but I have to wait for it to scroll into view. Holding brightness down on my Logitech Harmony doesn't work (it works fine when you press it once to change brightness though). However, holding left works fine so I could set the player to autoupdate. Weird that. [slim] Upgrade firmware oddity
After upgrading to 7.1, the SB in my bedroom updated its firmware automatically. However the one in the lounge sat there telling me to hold "brightness" (which I did etc). Isn't that a bit odd? Why would one do it on its own and not the other? I did a search but could only find a thread from back in 2006... Is there any chance of a plugin or future code upgrade to allow the SB3 to autoswitch to squeezenetwork when the server is off and then to notice it turning on again and switching back to squeezecenter? Or is it impossible? Sorry if this has already been requested. Thanks, but I've already authorised squeezenetwork in the Last.fm settings (the squeeze logo has appeared in last.fm so should be working). I'm able to listen to my last.fm channels via squeezenetwork, but there's no option in squeezecenter. I've checked the items available for adding to the menu too and there's no mention in there of last.fm either (apart from the last.fm audioscrobbler, which is working fine). The only items that appear in my music services folder are mp3tunes and Live music archive (pandora doesn't work in the UK so I presume that's why that's disappeared). It's not in Extras either. I've just installed 7.1, but that option is not there in my music services. It says it's only for UK,US and Germany. I'm in the UK. Any ideas? [slim] Restarting the server in SC?
Sorry if I'm being dim, but in my (XP install) slimserver, I used to right click on the icon to stop and start (e.g. after putting a plugin in the plugin folder). Now in squeezecenter, that option is no longer there and so I've been going to to control panel/admin/services and restarting it there. Is there an option in SC somewhere that I'm missing? I've just switched my slimserver over from my mp3 folder to my freshly ripped FLAC folder. Previously I could stream the mp3s no problem from slimserver on my home pc to winamp on my work laptop at the office. Now when I show winamp the stream and tell slimserver to use lame to encode the flacs to mp3 before sending the stream (it confirms lame is properly installed on the server page), nothing happens when I press play on the server. Winamp says welcome to slimserver and notices the name of the last item in the playlist but doesn't play the stream. Just to note, the FLACs stream fine to my squeezeboxes around the house and sound so much better. What have I missed? As a consumer that just wants things to work well and support as many formats as possible without DRM rubbish (which has never stopped anyone from copying music), I'm in two minds about this. However, as long as support for a wide range of formats (especially FLAC) remains and I don't have to start paying for server software upgrades, then I reckon this will be great. Logitech, keep me happy! [slim] [Speakers] Different impedance means?
I looking at some small speakers, so I can pipe the music from my sb3 to the kitchen and dining room. Anyone able to tell me what the difference is between these two speakers? 'This one' (http://tinyurl.com/ojdd9) (JBL Control ONE) has Power Handling 200 Watts and Nominal Impedance 8 Ohms. 'This one' (http://tinyurl.com/lckvq) (JBL Control 1xtreme) has Power Handling 125 Watts and Nominal Impedance 4 Ohms. Other than the power and impedance, they seem pretty similar. I can't find anywhere selling both so I can't figure out which is more expensive or why I should choose one over the other. Anyone got any idea? I'm getting the same problem. No other streams running. Shoutcast works fine through winamp. Only thing I've changed recently is installing AlienBBC. Tried disabling it on the off chance, but it didn't make any difference. Shoutcast stream number is on default 300. bitrates are on 0,0 max,min Is this a problem with shoutcast's servers?
