Re: [slim] Adding a Wiim Mini to your LMS system
Roon client is a bloated pig, requires the Linux port of Windows .NET runtime. What a mess. LMS client is native Linux, tiny, easily installed. The obvious first choice technically. Sadly, influential reviewers all use Roon, so it is marketings first choice. piTouch w/JustBoom DigiHat -> RME ADI-2 DAC FS -> JBL 305P MkII monitors; LMS 8.2 on piCorePlayer/Pi 4; Material Skin. chicks's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71798 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116444 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I turned gapless off because it was stopping at the end of each song via UPnP, but that was several firmware updates ago. Sounds like WiiM has fixed it now. piTouch w/JustBoom DigiHat -> RME ADI-2 DAC FS -> JBL 305P MkII monitors; LMS 8.2 on piCorePlayer/Pi 4; Material Skin. chicks's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71798 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117101 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Adding a Wiim Mini to your LMS system
OK, just tested the Airplay bridge->WiiM Mini. Works OK, except no album art displayed. Album art displays fine with UPnP, and of course, UPnP will work up to the 24/192 limit of the WiiM. I think the only thing I had to configure for UPnP with the WiiM was to turn gapless off, as it would quit at the end of every song with it enabled. 39178 +---+ |Filename: Screenshot 2022-11-20 1.56.50 PM.png | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=39178| +---+ piTouch w/JustBoom DigiHat -> RME ADI-2 DAC FS -> JBL 305P MkII monitors; LMS 8.2 on piCorePlayer/Pi 4; Material Skin. chicks's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71798 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116444 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Cheers! 'WiiM Mini' (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09HC5GRKY) is super easy to set up, no need to speak geek at all. Simple as Sonos, but a lot cheaper. I use one via the LMS UPnP bridge, but its native app is quite good for all the music services, plus it supports Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Amazon AlexaCast and Airplay 2 in addition to UPnP. If youre looking to enhance your career, yes, Perl is going the way of COBOL - few new projects, youll be handed someone elses often very obfuscated code to maintain and enhance. Python is a much better choice, though Perl developers are far fewer so pay can be better. If you want to stick to pure Python, you might have a look here: https://github.com/retired-guy/Squeezebox Not anywhere near as slick as piCorePlayer, but fun to play with, and quite functional. piTouch w/JustBoom DigiHat -> RME ADI-2 DAC FS -> JBL 305P MkII monitors; LMS 8.2 on piCorePlayer/Pi 4; Material Skin. chicks's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71798 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116871 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

It will run in the Linux container. Unfortunately, the IP addresses on the Linux container won't be available outside of the ChromeBook, unless there's some workaround I'm not aware of. Unless youre using an Android device, it should show up in your browser at pcp.local, much simpler than typing an IP address. You can change the host name in the admin page, so it will become [myhostname].local.
