Re: [slim] The future of Squeezebox

2015-10-03 Thread esa

When I was searching for a system to waikup in the morning with the NEXT
song of my playlist, then I was surprised that SONOS can't do this
simple thing.
With LMS, it is even better than a simple playlist. You can use dynamic
playlist!
You can plus with query, add plugins...
Sonos can do what LMS does, but the opposite is true if you connect a
good power amplifier to it.
Why Logitech stopped the dev? Maybe it wasn't enough profitable compared
to other products in their list.

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music-Playback now on ANDROID! SqueezePlayer released to the market ...

So, I’m trying to set up a multi-room audio with multiple old Android
phones running squeezeplayer, and I’m having sync issues. LMS is running
on a Synology diskstation DS214+. Devices are a Samsung Galaxy Exhibit
 II 4g, a Samsung Galaxy S, a Samsung Galaxy Epic 4G, and a Samsung
Galaxy S3, each plugged into its own amp/speakers. Is there any way to
tell which is the “problem” device? So far, I’m starting out just trying
to sync 2 (like Exhibit and Galaxy S, or Exhibit and Epic). I’d prefer
not to have to go through every possible combination (especially if the
problem is something else, like network).
Do you think it would help if I set up a second wifi access point with
a unique SSID that’s only used by the music players? Or should this not
 make a difference?
I’ve actually got Cat-5 near each of the amps, so if there’s a better
way of going about this hardwired with different devices (cheaply
priced), please let me know. I picked up some old android phones
(cracked screens, who cares), for pretty cheap, and each works
individually with the LMS just fine. Only the sync is a problem.

Do you think it would help to wipe off the stock Android software on
these and load up something stripped down like Cyanogenmod? Is there a
particular Android version that might be better than others (i.e., Froyo
vs. Gingerbread vs. ICS, vs Kit Kat)?

 Thanks for your advice.

Hi,
I don't know if your issue is not SYNC at all or some getting some
lags.

Did you try the adjustment setting in SB setting : see the screen shot.
Also in your audio setting for the player : I think there is a
possibility to enable/disable re-sampling) or maybe in the App.
My setting is the default and are visible in the screenshot.

I made some other tests of SYNC with :
1) squeezelite (http://code.google.com/p/squeezelite/) but on windows,
it synchronizes but some time you can hear some minor lags.
I have noticed that it synchronizes at the beginning of each track. So,
wait the next track to have a new synchronizing.
I don't remember my result on a Linux OS, but the developer told me that
it should sync without problem.
2) also another Player that you can try is :
http://angrygoatapps.com/sbplayer_android.html.
3) Squeeze play on windows : I'm sure that it doesn't synch.

I don't know if it is the same, but something similar happens since I
have done an upgrade to the last SQueezeBox (SQLITE vs MySQL)
I suppose, this is also linked when I do a LIBRARY RESCAN (programmed at

As a workaround, I do the following in SC : Swap right to display the
server and the list of music player = Go in Analyze = search for
added songs.
It takes only a few minutes and after everything work fine again.

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music-Playback now on ANDROID! SqueezePlayer released to the market ...

2014-09-08 Thread esa

Dear,

I would like to use a SqueezeBox in my car.
I plan to install a raspberry with piCorePlayer in my car :
https://sites.google.com/site/picoreplayer/home
To play sound in my car, I can use the car analog input + HifiBerry (The
Jack output of the Rpi sounds very bad).

My car can be connected with a Bluetooth device.

So if I can avoid wires and as I'll use my smartPhone with
SqueezeCommander, why not try the BT connection?

I plan to buy a HTC Desire 500 with a Bluetooth APTx compatible.

I don't know if my car is APTx compatible, but I already made a test
with a tablet that is A2DP compatible and it sounds correctly.
If APTx is better, I plan to add a device like this one :
http://www.aptx.com/product/advance-acoustic-wtx-500-bluetoothr-receiver

A third solution : As my car also have a Aux Input, I can use the phones
output but what's about the quality?

I read that SqueezePlayer will be able to connect through a Bluetooth
connection and in fact that's an Android feature (the OS will manage the
sound output)
Does someone already try such BT APTx connection with SqueezePlayer or
is it best to use the Phone output connection?
Thanks for your advice.
Best Regards
Eric

My LMS server (v7.7.1 on Windows 2008) hangs if I use the search option

around this using the Logitech Android controller app by selecting My
Music, then Songs then Search. This option isn't available in
SqueezeCommander however. Is there a way of telling SqueezeCommander to
do a song search to prevent the global search from causing the server to
 hang? (I have about 83,000 tracks/5,500 albums)

With SC 0.9.6.1, in the search menu, there is a little symbol near the
search box where it is possible to select a global Search or Local
search.
If you select Local search, it search only in your music library.
If you select Global search, It ask where you want to search by
proposing a list of possibilities (My Music, Deezer, ...).

My configuration :
Version : 7.5.5 - r32671 on a Linux ATOM D525.

With +/- 2 Track with 2500 album it is instantaneous in SC.

In the Web interface, if I put nothing in the search box, it doesn't
make the search.
So, I try with a : it give the result in less than 20 seconds (+/-3500
results).

You can reduce the number of track to make a test and see if the problem
is related to the number of track.

Did you check the server LOG (increase the LEVEL if necessary ). Try
different search and check the LOG.

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android

2011-03-14 Thread esa

Dear,
It could be a nice solution.
My proposal, is to create a little BOX based on a PIC controller from
Microchips.
- This box can generate all IR code (based on LIRC :
http://www.lirc.org/).
- This box connected to the network can receive control command from
Android Phone to generate specific IR Code.
- This BOX must be placed near elements that must be controlled : this
box can control multiple device.

I make electronics, I start programming for Android and very difficult
for me to understand JAVA.

A other approach, in case of uPNP device, is to create code to play
music and control device trough uPNP.
For example, I have a NOXON 2 device and maybe possible to send music
from squeezeserver to it ?

I have been using SqueezeCommander for a while and I'm very happy with
it. Thank you very much. Little improvements are needed here and there,
but nothing related to the scope of its existing (defined) functionality
that I'd complain about. My issue is that I need another device (remote)
just to turn my receiver on/off and to adjust some of its settings. I
understand that SqueezeCommander is not a Universal remote, but if
one could add just the function to power on/off receivers it would be
 perfect for me.

Looking around I noticed that right now with an iPhone one can have a
remote for the SB (iPeng) and a Universal IR remote unified in a single
device. I don't think I'll ever get an iPhone... so I'd like a similar
solution for my Android phone, but I have been unable to find it.
Looking around I found the following 3 solutions to control AV systems
via IR using an iPhone which requires the purchase of a wireless IR
blaster. I could not find anything similar to these for Android.

 http://us.gear4.com/product/_/93/unityremote/?cid=31
 http://www.slashgear.com/peel-fruit-turns-iphone-into-show-suggesting-universal-remote-08118392/
 http://www.slashgear.com/griffin-beacon-makes-your-iphone-4-a-universal-remote-07124546/

My question to the SqueezeCommander developer is... How difficult would
it be for SqueezeCommander to accommodate the necessary wireless
interface to communicate with one of these wireless IR blasters?

One way would be to have an agreement with the makers of one of these
blasters and license the interface from then and incorporate into
SqueezeCommander. It will probably cost too much money to justify it,
but one can only wish. Take a look at the video about the UnityRemote
in the link above... I'd like to something similar to this for my
Android phone, but with the functionality of SqueezeCommander.

The other way... probably not legal... is to capture and replicate the
wireless signals from one of these apps. I know that recording the IR
signal from any of these blasters to the components is easy (most
Universal remotes have a record function) but how difficult would it be
to record the wireless signal from one of these apps to the IR blasters?
I doubt they're secured (encrypted). Just having an app that replicates
the signals that are required to turn several receivers on/off from my
Android phone would be enough for me. Having SqueezeCommander do it
within its interface would be perfect.

Just a thought... I know that my iPhone-loving friend, who also owns a
SB3 because I recommended it.. is thinking of buying the UnityRemote...
I hate to have him show me another thing that he can easily do with
 his device.

My other hope is that gears4 is also developing a UnityRemote app for
 Android.

 Back on topic...

[The alarm playlist are loaded from the server, i.e. if you can select
the SQL playlist as alarm through the WebUI (http://yourserver:9000),
it should also work in SqueezeCommander.
(How do you set an SQLPlayList as alarm at the moment?)

By not supported, I mean you cannot access the “Extras” menu in

I have not tried the app on an Archos 43, but SqueezeCommander should

AFAIK, Android Market should support paid apps in Belgium now, but if
it does not work, you may also use SlideME:

Dear Christian,

Thanks for the explanations!

To set up a SQL Playlist through SqueezePlayer (I use it for test ) or
Squeeze Touch , I check my SQLPLaylist in
SQLPLaylist-Setting-Favourites.
After this, it is visible in the Alarm menu - select song.

I don't need to make/edit a SQL playlist with the remote or the
SqueezeTouch. This will be to complicated ( because, I use the custom
command Line to add more functionalities to the SQL playlist ).
I only need to launch them trough the Main Menu : I suppose, it is
possible ?

Finally, I will buy a ARCHOS 5IT 8 GB ( because the price is good and
bigger screen ).
But, I read Archos don't support Android Market, have a bigger screen
resolution and thus not support all Android application...
Is it true ?
Can I buy it ?

Re: [slim] [Announce] iPeng 1.2.5 now on the App Store

2010-10-08 Thread esa

Dear Pippin,

Logitech decide to leave the software open for the community.
So, I decide to search for a possible solution with their products.
I realized, that there are a lot of Plugins and I found a better
solution that I imagine myself.
That's the only product on the market that can wake up with a dynamic
playlist and never playing the same song each days.
That's great, and it's why I decide to buy a Squeeze Touch player.
Sure, I 'll also donate to the developer :-)

After this, I decide to search for a remote.
I found your application, and it's great !
So I decide to buy a Ipod Touch.
But... My colleague say that I'm wrong with this solution because Apple
don't authorize a lot of thinks ( copy of my MP3 on the player, open a
telnet connection to my NAS, etc...)
I decide to verify this affirmation on Internet and realize that there
is a team busy to Hack the Ipod.
Why
Why buying a Ipod at 250 Euro and take the risk to lost the warranty ?
Why pay to hack ? It's crazy !

So I decide to not buy a Ipod.
Maybe a Archos, but my question :
Is your application supported on other brands ?

Regards
Eric
