There are several of us using Vortexbox with squeezeplay installed and
this does include all the above features, except for the controller,
i.e. like a screenless touch. The Vortexbox is normally run headless
(without a screen) so you can use anything with a browser or Ipad touch
etc.

It may be possible to get it working with a touchscreen attached, but I
am not going to worry about that.

Andrew is talking about the Vortexbox player which gives you hires, but
not gapless, no syncing and no spotify. I have also tried softsqueeze
install which does all bar hires.

There are instructions for installing squeezeplay over at vortexbog.org
forum; although there is no out of the box installyet

Personally I think one of the reasons why Logitech is letting the touch
go is because squeezeplay is the tweakers player. The touch is just a
hardware implementation of it, and I bet they don't make much per unit.

Re: [slim] Community Squeezebox: The Name Vote (Round 2)

2013-03-03 Thread foxesden

A poll associated with this post was created, to vote and see the
results, please visit http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98200

Question: What should we call this new device?

- Open Music Box
- Melodia
- Phoenix
- Harmonic
- None of the above

Seeing as it is still in the design stage and the exact scope is not
defined. How about SWAMP Thing. :)

Must admit I an not keen on any of the names, but I think the guys
putting the effort in should have the say; it is only a name right?

Re: [slim] Community Funded Squeezebox Replacement - Would you be interested?

2013-03-03 Thread foxesden

Mark me down as interested.

I think you have got the feature set pretty much taped; certainly for
what I want.

Can I suggest that you start looking at the time-scales that you would
realistically want people to cough up cash and how that would work?

I am not an expert on this by any means, but I have recently been
playing around with various DRC tools.

When you make a correction you are attempting to force the sound profile
to fit an ideal curve, maybe flat, maybe harmon curve or some other
"ideal". To do this the correction will reduce the voume of peaks and
increase the volume of troughs throughout the audio spectrum.
Sometimes the increase in a trough maybe too much for the amplifier (or
speakers) to handle and can cause clipping. By reducing the overall gain
you give the system leeway to increase the volume of the troughs but
still to stay under 0db.

When you are getting a peak of +2.66db I think that is referring to the
amount of boost to a particular frequency that is needed to cancel out a
trough, and is a guldeline to the overall gain that you should be
applying to avoid peaking over 0db. i.e. -2.68db.

Re: [slim] Adding a Wiim Mini to your LMS system

2022-10-02 Thread foxesden

I have just bought and setup a Wiim Mini. There is no native Squeezelite
support yet, it is still relying on UPNP Bridge for running, and I am
getting intermittent dropouts. I have posted this on the WiiM forum.

Potentially it is something else as the device is new.

Re: [slim] Adding a Wiim Mini to your LMS system

2022-10-02 Thread foxesden

Yeah I have found that the issue is that the Wiim was connecting to a
remote node in my mesh network. It was tricky to resolve, as the Wiim
doesn't have an option to reset the Network, even following a reboot. So
I had to turn the Mesh off and connect the Wiim to a different wifi
network by resetting it - the wifi settings are not cleared by a factory
reset so this took me a while to figure out.

I also just found out that my TP Link deco have a firmware update that
would allow me to map devices to specific nodes in the Mesh network,
which would probably have been easier to do if I had upgraded earlier.

Anyway it doesn't appear to be a Wiim issue.
