[slim] Connection issues

2009-06-19 Thread jamesho

Hi

I've got some issues keeping the connections for the system together.
Here are my setup details.

I've got a Duet system. SC running on a Debian server. I have an IPCOP
router.

The IPCOP router has separate networks for wired and wireless segments.
The router prevents devices on the wireless lan talking to devices on
the wired lan.

My initial setup is; the receiver on the wired lan talking to a SC
server on the wired lan. The controller connects via the receiver.
This setup allows every thing to talk to everything with out any
firewall issues as its all hanging off the wired lan.

I'm about to add some other slim devices in other areas of the house
and the wireless reception for the controller isn't great in other
rooms. So I want to make the controller connect via my main wireless
access point, which does offer good reception throughout the house.

Since the controller will be connecting via the wireless lan, the
firewall prevent access to the receiver and the SC as they are on the
wired lan. I'm not too sure what ports I need to open, but I have opened
the following:

UDP controller IP => 192.168.40.0/24 : 3483 Discovery
TCP controller IP => 192.168.40.0/24 : 3483 Control
TCP controller IP => 192.168.40.0/24 : 9000 Web
This is the network that the SqueezeCenter site on.

UDP controller IP => SC IP : 3483 Discovery
TCP controller IP => SC IP : 3483 Control
TCP controller IP => SC IP : 9000 Web

UDP controller IP => Receiver IP : 3483 Discovery
TCP controller IP => Receiver IP : 3483 Control
TCP controller IP => Receiver IP : 9000 Web

After opening the ports I changed the network connection on the
controller for via the receiver to the Access Point. It worked fine.

But then if you turn off the controller and then back on again it
doesn't work.
The controller will pick up the new network and get an IP address but
it will not make a connection to receiver. I'm not sure if this is
because it can not talk to the receiver or the SC.

What does the controller talk to? The receiver or the SC?
I'm not really sure what the problem is, it getting all above my
understanding.
Are there some issues with the ports?
Does the controller do a network wide search (Discovery) for the SC
each time it boots?
Are the pinholes in my firewall sufficient to allow this to work? Is
the pinhole 192.168.40.0/24:3483 valid? Will this work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help in
advance.
James

Re: [slim] Firewall logs

2008-08-18 Thread jamesho

Thanks for the info Mark.

I'll just add a rule to ignore those entries in the log.

The SBR is still being odd. I've just check and it appears that its
turning back on and showing a yellow status light.
Its running on a wired connection. I've tried a different network
cable.
What do you suggest I do with the WOL setting?

[slim] Firewall logs

2008-08-11 Thread jamesho

I've got loads of logs in my firewall from the Receiver and not sure why
they are there.

The set up is
1x Receiver
1x Controller
squeezecenter 7.1 running on Debian stable (installed via apt)

I can connect to the squeezecenter and play music, but after I'm
finished I turn off the Receiver and shutdown the squeezecenter server.
But after some time (not sure how long) it turns its self back on. I've
checked my firewall logs and there are loads of entries in there from
the Receiver

>From port 3483 to 255.255.255.255 on port 3483
There is an entry about every minute while the server is off.

Any body know what's going on?

[slim] sox/lame

2006-04-06 Thread jamesho

Hi

I've just set up SlimServer Version: 6.5b1 - trunk, on a Debian Sarge
machine.

I'm trying to enable Ogg Vorbis MP3 sox/lame support but I'm just
getting this error

"[sox] -t ogg $FILE$ -t raw -r 44100 -c 2 -w -s - | [lame] --resample
44100 --silent -q $QUALITY$ --abr $BITRATE$ -r - -"

Can any one help?
Thank in advance.
James
