Good advice. not every phone has reverse color built in (my moto doesn't but my wife's Samsung does I think) - there are free apps that do this though. Re: [slim] Replacement system recommendations
Hi, are you running the player wireless and if so have you looked into the wireless signal where the player is located. The lms information page lists the signal strength. Check the power supply, make sure it is seated and not causing a problem if you jiggle it. The SB3 WiFi cards becoming unseated is also a problem some have reported (even if running wired). Reseat the card or last resort remove it. Hopefully others will provide additional guidance, report back if you figure out! Squeezeplug requires very little configuration when running on supported hardware, squeezelite. ( the player plugin) has good sync. Re: [slim] Music system for a disabled person?
Sounds like fine motor skills are limited? A switch enabled mp3 player is probably what you need. There are adapter(s) that interface with (older) iPods or dedicated switch players. If a computer is the desired option then you could pair it with a darci switch box + switches + some morse code will give him basic access. The darci emulates a keyboard so if you teach him some morse he could play, pause skip, open, close etc any program that supports keyboard shortcuts. I think the Apple music application in iOS has switch access but I don't know for sure. Ipeng supports Voice over, usually it then can also be accessed via switch. Yeah, they do gapless mp3 and flac correct. - File index is limited. It can serve you artists, albums, genre, composer and file - SB is way better for local library features, i mean like Sonos is pretty feeble in comparison - File index is slower to scan - it is not faster to play music, actually takes more presses on the remote than SB smartphone remote apps - the remote app for iphone is very basic, not as many features as ipeng - in fact squeezecommander and all the other apps are better imo - no customization on Sonos, you can't hide, reorder items on remote, favourites are limited - the alarm feature is not useful unless you have a dedicated remote (no snooze buttons or clock on iphone app) - no kidsplay or kid friendly options - no native linux controller (also their mac controller is not good) - no playback on remotes or software playback - better hardware options with SB (basically for me having kid and wife friendly controls on SB Boom were a big feature for SB and my wife preferred boom over S5 and iPeng over Sonos Iphone remote app) '[image: http://i.imgur.com/6ihOBl.jpg]' (http://imgur.com/6ihOB) -- johnas johnas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31930 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88215 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Hi, in the default view you can just drag and drop the tracks to where you want them in the playlist. -- johnas johnas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31930 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81043 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Since it is running Fedora one can install a full range of software on it, everything up to including a full desktop environment. AFAIK there isn't anything the Synology does that Vortexbox can't do. With regards to the price, an Atom based nettop running Vortexbox is cheaper than the Synology 109 where I live. That said, I am not saying that the 109 won't make a decent SB server. Are you using the 109, how does it perform? -- johnas johnas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31930 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80747 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Boom or Radio for childrens room
I bought a Radio for my 3 month old son's room - I know he's pretty young but I needed a reason to pick one of these up. The sound is great for such a small box. Personally I like the Boom display better than the Radio. The colour screen is nice, but I can't operate it with a IR remote if I am more than a few feet away. -- johnas johnas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31930 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75434 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Music IP would be the way to go for sure. If you can't get it to work you can save your genius mixes as playlists and put them in your SBS playlist folder. -- johnas johnas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31930 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75367 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

You could look at a VPN service - some have both US and UK based servers so you have access to services that are geo blocked in both countries. You can get an unlimited OpenVPN service for about 60US$. This might be overkill though if you would only use it for your SBS. -- johnas johnas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31930 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75323 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Yeah I have the same issue with my SB radio if I move it. No matter how many times I tell it to connect to my network it won't. In my case when I reboot my router the Radio automatically joins the network and is good to go. I suspect it is a DHCP issue with the radio but I haven't had time to troubleshoot it. Maybe someone else will chime in with some better advice. -- johnas johnas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31930 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75267 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Yeah but the system is only 219.00$ after rebate. It does a great job of serving my 2 SB3s and Boom. No issues with a slow web interface, synching etc. To the OP, you don't have to use Ubuntu netbook remix, the full 9.10 will likely support all your hardware - try the live CD to test it out before you install it. -- johnas johnas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31930 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73602 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

You should not have any problem like that. Interesting, thanks for this. Whenever I have buffering problems I assumed it was my Internet connection or 7.4. Sometimes I have rebuffering problems or a complete stop after a few minutes of the sound. Do you know why I would experience this with my Boom if the sound is downloading to the buffer and just looping on the player?
