Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android
First, sorry to hear the dev has gone missing... but maybe someone else will have an idea of how to help. I've used SqueezeCommander successfully for some time, and only lately has this issue cropped up: when I drill into a locally-served artist / album, I get an empty list, as opposed to seeing the songs. Rhapsody or other web-served sources work fine. iPeng on an iPhone or iPad work fine, even for local... Is there a scrub or something to poke that might help resolve the local missing songs in SqueezeCommander? [slim] amplified speakers - Klipsch-XF-48-Icon-X?
I'm currently considering retiring my giant hurking cabinet and stack of amp / pre-amp / sacd player / turntable (gasp!), and going the route of amplified speakers. The Audioengine A5's are my current pick, but I see the Klipsch-XF-48-Icon-X on sale (@ $400 each, but were $1250, and I'm a sucker for a deal) They oddly pitch them as home theater (who does 5.1 without an amp/ rec'r?) In either case, they would be the (stereo) sound for a squeezebox classic (a slimdevices 3, actually) and replace the Dali bookshelves on stands. I realize the two aren't really comparable - the Klipsh are floor standers, twice the price, etc. But if you have experience in this arena, lemme know what you think - I'm sold on the A5's, but I'm not sure if I'm up-sold on the Klipshes. Hoping to audition this weekend. -- markbelanger markbelanger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72732 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] amplified speakers - Klipsch-XF-48-Icon-X?
Interesting - it does make sense for home theater too, but seems an easier win for stereo. I appreciate the advice - it's my inclination re: bass as well. I'll post my thoughts on the Klipsch floor-standers' sound after a listen. The A5's I can attest to - very nice. Inclined to take your advice though - a little extra for maybe a lot more... -- markbelanger markbelanger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72732 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Slimserver on a wii ...
as demonstrated by this post: http://charlesv.livejournal.com/127966.html, but I do think this should just get done as it's the avenue to squeezebox enlightenment and therefore sales. The wii browser is capable, I believe. It would also be nice to get some value out of the $20 I threw at it, just to learn that tversity doesn't /really/ work. -- markbelanger markbelanger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=31252 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Slimserver on a wii ...
follow up to netvibes - I re-setup lame, the podcast, and got it working in a browser, according to Charles' recommendations. But on the wii, the netvibes page loads fine, but the flash player won't make a sound. Not sure why, seems like it's working, but had to play with it only during halftime of the father-in-law's game. Anyone have any guesses on how to take the next step? -- markbelanger markbelanger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=31252 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Songbird
I'm curious about which direction and how tight you're picturing the integration. But I like all of that. I had a pretty good experience with Songbird on the first try - the artist flickr images were really nice. mb -- markbelanger markbelanger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55884 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] iPeng Application 1.0 now on the App Store
Agree with Adhir's experiences almost completely - so very exciting, intricate and feature rich user experience. After twenty or so minutes I felt like I had figured most of the important stuff out That's a tall order for many people, but I think we agree the target isn't /completely/ the mainstream. The help file discusses selecting the current action mode, I've seen others here more helpfully identify it as toggling or even setting might be more clear. Also, I was surprised to have different experiences when selecting the album art on the left (-- current action applied) vs. the album name / artist text on the right (-- down the tree.) Not sure how to learn that through the UI (without RTFM :-) but, as Adhir pointed out, some enhanced visuals all around would be helpful: * startup - sluggish experience is normal, but invisible ... anyway to display a status bar? Does the app know the full extent of the effort from the getgo? * action applied - found that helpful in the web skin, and surprised to initally see my album added a handful of times... kind of a tap it harder, maybe that will do it kind of experience which a little polish would address easily. As far as enhancement request - streaming to phone (as player) would be sweet, and the little UI visuals should go a long way to leading the user to learn the features and understand the current behavior. One question - we have a small library server at work - any cautions about connecting to that, then going home and connecting to (my real...) home server (which is a much bigger library...)? Direct note to Pippen - it's an excellent effort and your participation has been amazing. Glad to be able to support you, and know that the tool is a really fun way to interact with the music again. -- markbelanger markbelanger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55514 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Squidgy for iPhone now available in Apple App Store
I'm intrigued but not thrilled with the price : payoff ratio. Does anyone else believe that the remote is about 60%, but streaming is the killer 40%? I've tried simplify (takes forever with a big library) and tversity (video is a nice touch, but good luck if you want to listen to X or ZZ Top!) I even bought the nullsoft radio tuner app, which is pretty cool (costs a few bucks though) in that it lets you load a custom URL. Leaving the app to go to a browser kills the app. Total catch 22. Flycast had hope, in that it's a radio app WITH a web browser option, but no custom URL streams. It feels like it's /so close./ Also, I feel like Ipeng should get my money at this point, he's a very active contributor, and I can probably justify 8 or 10 bucks for a remote - but I'm going to have a hard time justifying that TIMES 3 to test them all out. Does the ipeng plugin allow control of the playlist, or is it cue it up and go (only...)? Good work all - enjoy nerding out in this direction and pleased progress is afoot. Would love to see a nice streaming option for the iphone, though. -- markbelanger markbelanger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55073 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] SB3 remote control getting physically weary?
I just dropped mine, which killed it. I think I had an earlier generation, the replacement I got is backlit and a little more substantial, better iconography... it's great, and the service was amazing with very quick turnaround (in the U.S.) -- markbelanger markbelanger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20400 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54909 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
