Re: [slim] What are your long-term SqueezeBox solutions?
Interesting to read what everyone is doing/planning. For me I think it comes down to the fact my 4 year old son can say "Dad, play me the Trolls soundtrack", and he'll have to wait for me to do it, or for me to tell him I dont want to hear that again! But he can easily now say "Alexa play the Trolls soundtrack" and he gets what he wants. Finally got 2 Echos last month as a test, primarily to work with my new home automation. But even the missus, who's been happy to use the Squeezeboxes all these years, now finds Alexa easier due to the voice control. So unless I can get Alexa voice control working for the Squeezeboxes, then I'll suspect the rest of the family will probably end up wanting me to setup more Echos. menno's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11751 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108823 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I run it on my Dockstar, with two USB disks plugged in. Means I have a full mirror and incremental backup history. Also means I can plugin a 3rd drive occasionally to backup another mirror for offsite storage. And I can just plugin bigger drives when I need/as they get more affordable. I finally worked out the difference, and why this happens. When my 7.5 server retrieves the apps, I can see it is connecting to test.mysqueezebox.com (from the apps it shows). When I tell my squeezeboxes to connected to mysb then they actually connect to the main mysqueezebox.com. Is there anyway to force the 7.5 server to connect mysqueezebox.com instead of test.mysqueezebox? I tried its replacement, SqueezePlay but that doesnt sync at all. So after all these years I thought at least SlimDevices/Logitech would have provide something by now. [slim] Audioengine users question
Hi, I use the Audioengine 5 speakers with Squeezebox in the bedroom. Sound is great, but I have had one problem, and was wondering if others get the same. When the speakers go into sleep mode after no music has been played for ten minutes, there is a powering off noise. On my first set of speakers, this noise was there when I got them, but it got louder over time. I sometimes use the sleep function on the Squeezebox to listen to music whilst falling asleep, and the noise would actually wake me up! So I received a replacement pair from my supplier. The new set of speakers also had this noise, but much quieter. But I now get the feeling it is getting louder again. Does anyone else with Audioengine speakers experience this problem? I use the QNAP TS-109. The main reason I use this instead of an old PC is that the power usage in operation is 14.4W and 6.6W at idle. It's hard to explain why she should learn how to start and stop squeezenetwork in order to listen to worse-sounding music than she can hear by turning on the radio :) Ah well this is totally opposite for us. Before our squeezeboxes arrived (today!), I have been ripping internet radio stations for years, and playing them back because the FM stations mostly play crap chart music that we have no interest in... So one of the big selling points for us is the ability to use shoutcast streams, pandora last.fm in addition to our CD soon to be totally FLAC collection. In fact improvement in syncing of stream playback would be a major plus for me. And I'd love to have last.fm synced playback, which the plugin doesnt support yet. Re: [slim] cost - slimdevices/logitech
FYI I just received my two Squeezeboxes from Ebuyer. £190 each incl free postage. They had the new logitech branding, which didnt show up on their website. Would have preferred the old slim devices logo though... -- menno menno's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11751 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=36220 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Active speakers with auto power on/off
Thanks, but for that kind of money I'm thinking some small active monitors may be a better choice quality wise. Just need to find some that automatically power on/off and sound good. [slim] Active speakers with auto power on/off
Can anyone recommend me some active speakers that have an auto power on/off feature. I specifically looking for some to go in the bedroom with an SB3, and want the auto power on/off feature for the alarm clock function.
