Money! That looks to be working like a champ. Thanks a lot folks. Wow Jim, you're telepathic. That makes great sense AND it will simplify my setup. It's a two-fer. :) Of course, I still have to get 'er going. Re: [slim] Missing SB!
OK, so the laptop will have to be on in order for the SB to work? It seems like there should be a way to "let" the laptop control the SB if desired, otherwise it will run normally. I don't always want to have to run the laptop. Thanks again. -- miklorsmith miklorsmith's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4349 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=44916 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Missing SB!
This is the next chapter of my ever-morphing problem trying to set a networked laptop as the controller for a remote Windows server. I was able to get it up and running a while back, but it didn't work when the laptop was off, i.e. using the stock remote. I'm pretty sure the problem is the SB was seeing the laptop as the server instead of the wireless router. I tried going through the networking setup again and now the stock remote works but the laptop doesn't see either of the two players I have. The main XP computer which has the storage attached works, and sees both players. The laptop is working perfectly, is connected to the internet, and sees the networked directories in the main computer. Further, the laptop sees the players when in SqueezeNetwork, just not SqueezeCenter. All in all, the network seems to be configured except for this one crucial problem. Thanks in advance. p.s. I still haven't figured out the other niggles but operational issues take priority. -- miklorsmith miklorsmith's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4349 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=44916 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Single SB Directory>Multiple Drives?
I'm sure this is an easy question, like so many things after you know the answer. :) In the past, when I've filled a drive, I've just moved onto a newer, bigger one. My collection is getting big enough that I don't want to do this any more. I'm not going RAID, I'll just have a couple of internal or external drives fed to the PC and a complete backup offsite. How do I get Slimserver to "see" multiple drives in one music directory? Thanks in advance. -- miklorsmith miklorsmith's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4349 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=44169 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Cue Sheet Problems
Update - in 6.3.1 if I first add the cuesheet to the playlist, then clear it, it's recognized from then on in Slimserver and in the SB. Re: [slim] Cue Sheet Problems
I'm not a computer programmer, I looked at the metaflac info on the flac website. I'm sure it's very helpful to the technical folks but not me. Even if I could figure it out I doubt I'd want to go back through the 1,000 albums I have ripped on my drive. For whatever reason, now even the 6.3.1 build that has worked in the past doesn't work. My .cue files aren't embedded in the .flacs. Re: [slim] Cue Sheet Problems
I encode to .wav, save those files as backups to an external drive. Server files get converted to .flac and I manually change the .cue files to find .flac instead of .wav. Neither .wav nor .flac cues work. -- miklorsmith miklorsmith's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4349 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40063 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Cue Sheet Problems
I've been using Exact Audio Copy to create continuous .wav files with .cue cutters for years. This works great but the last Slimserver build that works flawlessly is 6.3.1, including the beta 7.0. The problem has varied over time, currently the track numbers are available through the computer interface but not through the SB itself. Choosing that directory reveals "Empty" for contents instead of track information. I've searched the FAQ and don't find an answer here. [slim] Re: SB2 not opening CUE files when browsing
I ended up going back to 6.3.1 which fixed the .cue problem. It has introduced some other inconveniences, but so far they seem workable. Finally. [slim] Re: SB2 not opening CUE files when browsing
I have a related problem. Getting flac files to play from the server is spotty and doesn't work at all from the player. .mp3 files work fine but I've loaded 6.5 and 6.5.1 with no solution. These are continuous files with .cue cutters. I get the following error message: Required binary was not found: [flac] -dcs --skip=$START$ --until=$END$ -- $FILE$ | [lame] --resample 44100 --silent -q $QUALITY$ --abr $BITRATE$ - - Slimdevices is (sort of) trying to help me with no solution yet. I'll post back if I hear anything productive.
