[slim] Re: Can't connect SB1 to Linksys WRT54G Wirelessly
I recently had to subnet my wireless network because the paranoids at my wife's job require WPA for wireless on her laptop. So I had to attach a second router with just WEP for the SB1. Here's what I found to be the fatal configuration errors: If you set the Linksys WRT54G to mixed mode, it may not work. Make sure it's set to just B. If you assign a fixed IP address to the SB1, it may not work. You may have to input the SlimServer's IP address into the Squeezebox, which means it must have a static address. I believe that those three things, together, should get you up and running. -- mschlack mschlack's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1159 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=23038 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] How to play SlimServer library on a computer
Now that I have a great library to feed my SqueezeBox, I'd like to use computers in other parts of the house, where there are no stereo systems, to access it. My tunes are all stored as FLAC. Can I use SlimServer to stream them to computers? I tried using the localhost:9000/stream.mp3 interface, but nothing happens (or I misunderstood the directions), but not surprising, since I'm using FLAC and not mp3. Tried it substituting FLAC for mp3, but just got a browser message asking me which program I wanted to use to open the files. Which brings me to my next question. If I want to use another program, not SlimServer, to access the Slim library, what's a good player to use that works with FLAC? -- mschlack mschlack's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1159 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=23063 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

You're right JJZolx, I'm not wed to using the SlimServer interface. I'm looking for recommendations for a player that will play FLAC. I did find one called Ashampoo, of all the names, and it's not bad. But WMA and other obvious ones don't seem to support FLAC. -- mschlack mschlack's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1159 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=23063 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Anyway to use WPA with SB 1.0?
I'm happy with my SB 1, but my wife's IT department insists on WPA for connecting her laptop to their VPN. Is there a way to use WPA with the SB 1.0, or must I upgrade to the 3? -- mschlack mschlack's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1159 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22976 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
