So the decoder in Radio/Touch is not faad?

Re: [slim] Transporter using Wimp

2010-09-29 Thread sbjaerum

My understanding is:
1. Linux based players (Radio and Touch) do native decoding of the
256kbit/s stream.
2a. Older ip3k based players don't do native decoding of any AAC format
at any bitrate.
2b. Transcoding for ip3k players is done by the local server using
faad.
2c. faad is not capable of transcoding the 256kbit/s stream (although
the native AAC decoder in the Linux players decode the 256kbit/s
stream)
2d. For server transcoding using faad, a 96kbit/s stream is used.

Is all this correct?

There is currently a test applet that makes it possible to control
SB/Transporter using the IR emitter on the Controller.
I am sure it is possible to extend on that so that the Controller will
act as a universal IR remote.

Do you get any messages in the SoftSqueeze console?
Sounds like a buffer problem. Try to enable the debug options for Audio

When testing with the Natural Sounds, I get buffer underruns with Java

When playing Natural Sounds from SqueezeNetwork on Softsqueeze with the
following audio settings

Audio mixer: Primary Sound Driver
Audio buffer size: 128000
MP3 Decoder: Java MP3 Plugin

the audio soon mutes, and I get repeatedly 'Connecting to play:'
messages. The visualizer sometimes run even though there is no audio.
In the Softsqueeze console, I get lots of these messages:
505562 [AudioMixer-0] WARN javasound - Java Sound Audio buffer
underrun bufAvail=754688

When changing the audio settings to:

Audio mixer: Primary Sound Driver
Audio buffer size: 128000
MP3 Decoder: JLayer

the Natural Sounds play without problems.

I am running Softsquezze from svn version 3973 on WinXP.

Any thoughts about this behavior?

Unfortunately, the firewall/proxy at work does not allow ssh
connection. Anyway, I have managed to set up ssh on my slimserver.
Tested by successful tunneling from another machine on my home network.

So at the moment, my only option is to connect using http.
How effective/robust is the IP blocking feature available at Server
settings -> Security?
I guess I should only allow IP adresses matching the local network and
the domain at work.
Will the server be visible (e.g. for Google), but not allow
connections, or will the server be invisible for all IP adresses
outside the allowed range?

[slim] Playlist problem

2005-07-20 Thread sbjaerum

My library exclusively contains whole album flac files with embedded
cuesheets. At some point of time (I am not sure when), the playlist
functionality seems to be broken. When I now select Browse Playlists, I
get a playlist entry for each track of each album in my library. In
addition I get an entry for each directory and flac file in my Music

Is anyone else experiencing this?

this problem?

I am now using svn version 3757. Slimserver runs on WinXP.
